Thursday morning was all about getting out and exploring what’s around our location! 🛍️🥐

We started our morning with a trip to Jewel, then spent some time checking out local shops and bakeries in the area. It was a fun way to get familiar with our community, practice navigating local businesses, and enjoy everything our neighborhood has to offer!

During our outing to the Bolingbrook Promenade, we made a stop at Bath & Body Works to do some shopping for our families! 💙

Our participants had the opportunity to choose special items for their loved ones while practicing important real-life skills like making choices, staying within a budget, navigating a store, communicating with employees, and completing a purchase.

It was so much fun watching everyone carefully pick out something they thought their family would enjoy. ❤️ There's nothing better than learning valuable life skills while doing something thoughtful for the people we love!

At The Hive, we believe that learning to take care of our space is an important part of building independence! 💪

Our participants have been working together to keep our Palos space clean and organized. From wiping down tables and putting things away to sweeping, organizing, and making sure everything is in its proper place, everyone has a part to play! 🧽✨

These everyday tasks may seem simple, but they are important life skills that help build responsibility, independence, teamwork, and pride in our environment.

A clean space is a happy space—and we love taking care of our Hive! 🐝💛

Our group had a great time getting out into the community for a fun day at the Bolingbrook Promenade!

Our first stop was Bass Pro Shops, where we put our observation and problem-solving skills to the test with a scavenger hunt! 🔎🎯 Participants worked together to find different items throughout the store while practicing communication, following directions, and navigating a busy community setting.

Of course, we had plenty of fun along the way! 😄 We love finding ways to turn community outings into opportunities to learn, practice independence, and make great memories together.
