🔶Parade: Monroe Street between Jones and Front Street
⏰1-2PM

🔶Festival: Front and First between Monroe and Macomb; Washington between First and Front
⏰1-9PM

As summer comes to a close, I’m feeling a sense of loss. Missed moments, missed traditions, and just missed memories.

Stress and overwhelm can lead us here. We tend to believe that we’ll get to it when we finish our to-do list, or after we’ve got things all figured out.

We get so busy that we convince ourselves that “later” really is a point in time. We put things off until one day, we look up and realize that the season has passed.

If you’re here with me, I invite you to take a breath.

Not just any breath. A slow, deep, intentional breath.

Deep breathing can be a simple way to signal to your body that it’s okay to slow down. That it’s okay to forgive yourself, let go of your to-do list, and take life one day at a time.

Try this: 4-7-8 Breathing

✨ Exhale: Completely empty your lungs through your mouth.
✨ Inhale (4): Breathe quietly through your nose for 4 seconds.
✨ Hold (7): Hold your breath for 7 seconds.
✨ Exhale (8): Slowly exhale through your mouth for 8 seconds.
✨ Repeat: Complete 4 cycles.

Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, it starts with one breath.
