Signs your wound is healing the right way?

1. Mild redness: a thin border of red or light pink along the incision site.
2. Slight swelling: area around stitches or staples might look a little puffy.
3. Clear or yellow fluid: a normal byproduct of the healing process
4. Scabbing: scabs form to protect the new tissue.
5. Bruising: will change from purple to green to yellow then quickly fade.
6. Itching: a sign the tissue and nerves are knitting back together.

If you are experiencing an increase in pain, chills or if the wound site is hot please seek immediate care.

Everyday habits that effect the healing process of a wound include poor nutrition, certain medications (blood thinners, steroids, anti-inflammatories) and dry skin.

💡 What can you do now that will benefit you later?

Prioritize protein and hydration- needed to build new tissue.
Inspect skin daily- catch changes early especially on your feet and lower legs.
Moisturize consistently- Keeping skin hydrated reduces the risk of tears and cracks.
Don't wait on a wound you do not see improvement on.

As we age, our skin naturally becomes thinner, drier, and less elastic—which can slow down the healing process. Reduced blood flow and collagen production mean wounds may take longer to repair and are more prone to complications.

✨ What does this mean for you?
Taking extra care of your skin, staying hydrated, and addressing wounds early can make a big difference in healing.

Your skin works hard for you—give it the care it deserves at every stage of life.
