Last week, members of our Community Health Worker (CHW) team attended the Massachusetts Public Health Alliance’s 2026 Spring Breakfast Awards, where the Massachusetts Association of Community Health Workers (MACHW) was honored with the Community Leadership Award.

This award recognizes organizations and individuals whose leadership creates meaningful change through collaboration, advocacy, and true partnership with the communities they serve.

We are proud to celebrate MACHW and the incredible work of Community Health Workers across Massachusetts. CHWs play a vital role in connecting individuals and families to care, resources, and support while helping build healthier communities for all.

We were also honored to have our CEO, Cheryl Bartlett, RN, as Co-Chair of the Host Committee.

Congratulations to MACHW and all of this year’s award recipients for their commitment to advancing public health across the Commonwealth!

Last week, one of our Community Health Workers, Doraliz Vega, took the stage at the Health Equity Compact's 2026 Health Equity Trends Summit — and we couldn't be prouder. 🌟

Her presentation, "Invest in a Community-Centered Safety Net: Community Health Workers at the Core," shone a spotlight on the vital role CHWs play in keeping our communities healthy, connected, and cared for.

At a time when federal policies are shifting and the future of health equity in Massachusetts is being decided, Dora showed up and made our community's voice heard. That's what New Bedford Community Health is all about.

We're grateful for her voice, her expertise, and her commitment to driving systems-level change. 💙

Our doors are always open — especially for the next generation! 🏥❤️

Last week we had the privilege of welcoming a group of students from Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts, Inc. for a tour of our health center. We were especially moved by the two students in the group with their hearts set on healthcare careers.

They got a behind-the-scenes look at what we do here every day, guided by our CEO Cheryl Bartlett, Chief Clinical Operations Officer Catia Smith, and Clinical Support Manager Holly Miranda.

It was a joy to share our space and our stories with all of them. Moments like this remind us why we do this work. 🌟

With more than $4.8 million raised toward our $6.95 million goal, momentum continues to grow as we work to expand primary care services and improve healthcare access for residents throughout Greater New Bedford.

This investment brings us one step closer to expanding access to primary care by transforming a long-vacant property into a modern healthcare facility that will allow us to serve approximately 3,000 additional patients each year.

Our hearts are full after this weekend’s Moms in Recovery Mother's Day Brunch 💗

This past weekend, we brought together mothers in our Office-Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) program and their children for a morning of connection, creativity, and quality time. With a delicious meal from Common Ground Café through PAACA, generous support from Silva Engineering Associates, and hands-on activities like bracelet making and planting, families were able to slow down and simply enjoy being together.

It was a beautiful reminder that recovery isn’t just about healing—it’s about rebuilding relationships, creating new memories, and finding joy along the way.

We’re honored to support our patients not just in their recovery, but in strengthening the bonds that matter most. 💜
