25 years ago today America was devastated with the terror attacks of flights 11, 175, 77, and 93 affecting the Twin Towers, The Pentagon, and Passengers of Flight 93 who regained control and crashed their plane in a Pennsylvania field.

25 years later America has and never will forget these tragedies, the sacrifices, and lives lost.

2,996 lives lost on 9/11 of those 2,753 were killed at the Twin Towers.
343 FDNY Firefighters, 23 New York City Police Officers, and 37 Port Authority Officers lost their lives making the ultimate sacrifice to serve and protect.

On this day, allow us to remember the sacrifices made and the lives lost.

🚑 CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES!

Henry County EMS would like to extend our congratulations to PARAMEDICS Jacob Fox and Ava Conderman for passing their National Registry Paramedic!

Paramedic School, comprised of over 1,300 hours of classroom and clinical study. While attending paramedic school, both employees remained working with Henry County EMS!

🚨Paramedic Conderman - Has been with Henry County EMS since 2023 and came to us as a newly certified EMT-B.

🚨Paramedic Fox - Has been with Henry County EMS since 2025 as a New Castle Career Center graduate, going straight from High School to the ambulance.

Both employees came to Henry County EMS new, ready to learn and serve, since their start date these employees have grown into strong providers. We are grateful for Paramedic Conderman and Paramedic Fox’s service and commitment to Henry County!

IDHS received reports of people representing themselves as FEMA officials. While IDHS is in communication with FEMA about the storm response and recovery, FEMA representatives ARE NOT currently visiting homes in Indiana.

Please be careful, and do not share sensitive information if you are suspicious of a scammer.

When FEMA officials arrive, they will be clearly marked with vests and FEMA apparel. IDHS will share information when FEMA representatives begin visiting areas affected by the storms.

⚠️ **BEFORE YOU HIRE A CONTRACTOR — STOP, CHECK & VERIFY** ⚠️

The New Castle Police Department would like to remind residents to take a few extra steps before hiring someone to perform construction, roofing, repairs, or other home-improvement work.

Unfortunately, home-improvement and construction scams can happen at any time, but they are especially common following severe storms when homeowners may feel pressured to make repairs quickly.

Before agreeing to work or handing over money:

✅ **Verify the contractor** Check their contractor license, business information, insurance, and references.

✅ **Get it in writing** Make sure you have a detailed written contract describing the work, materials, total cost, payment schedule, timeline, and warranty.

✅ **Verify permits** Don't simply take someone's word that a permit isn't required. For work inside New Castle city limits, residents can contact the **New Castle Building Commission at (765) 521-6823**.

✅ **Protect your money** Avoid paying the entire job upfront or making unusually large deposits. Use traceable payments, keep receipts, and consider tying payments to completed stages of work.

🚩 **WATCH FOR RED FLAGS**, including contractors who:

• Pressure you to “sign today”
• Show up unexpectedly following a storm
• Claim to have “leftover materials” from another job
• Demand a large amount of cash upfront
• Refuse to provide insurance or references
• Tell you a permit “isn't necessary” without verification
• Offer a price dramatically lower than other estimates
• Continually ask for additional money before work is completed
• Want payment made to someone other than the contractor or business
• Become angry or evasive when you ask questions

A legitimate contractor should not be afraid of you verifying their information.

This EMS Week, we pause to recognize all the men and women who make up EMS in Henry County and across the country.

Some of you respond to critical 911 calls, showing up on people’s worst days with steady hands, clear minds, and compassionate hearts. Others provide care during routine BLS transports or long-distance transfers—calls that may seem everyday, but mean everything to the patient in that moment.

No matter the call, every interaction matters. The compassion, professionalism, and empathy you bring to each patient leaves a lasting impact that often goes unseen, but is never forgotten.
