If you wear a prosthetic limb, one of the most common issues you may face is changes in socket fit. Over time, your residual limb can shrink or fluctuate in volume, creating extra space inside the prosthetic socket. This can lead to discomfort, poor control, skin irritation, and even instability while walking.

That’s where prosthetic socks come in. Prosthetic socks are designed to help manage volume loss by improving the fit between your limb and the socket. Adding the right number of ply (thickness) can reduce movement inside the socket, improve comfort, and restore proper alignment.

Ignoring excess space in your socket can lead to bigger problems like pressure sores or decreased mobility. If you find yourself constantly adjusting, adding multiple socks, or still feeling loose, it may be time for a socket adjustment or replacement.

Proper prosthetic fit is critical for comfort, safety, and performance. If something feels off, don’t ignore it—your mobility depends on it.
