Men’s Health Week is a reminder that prioritizing your health today can help protect your tomorrow.

Many cancers affecting men including prostate, colorectal, lung, and liver cancer are more treatable when detected early. Routine screenings, healthy habits, and open conversations with your doctor can make a lifesaving difference.

This week, encourage the men in your life to take charge of their health.

A promising new pancreatic cancer treatment is generating national attention, offering hope for patients facing one of the most challenging cancer diagnoses. Daraxonrasib is a first-in-class RAS(ON) multi-selective inhibitor and was shown to nearly double the survival of patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer compared to chemotherapy. FDA approval is in the works, but patients need access now. Fortunately, daraxonrasib is available right here in Louisiana at University Medical Center New Orleans thanks to our clinical trials office and physicians at the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center.

Breakthroughs like this are the result of decades of cancer research, scientific discovery, and patient participation in clinical trials. They also underscore why expanding access to cutting-edge research matters. Patients should not have to leave their communities to access promising new treatment options.

If you or a loved one has pancreatic cancer, talk with your physician about whether this program may be appropriate. Not every treatment is right for every patient, but understanding your options is an important part of your care journey.

Today's breakthroughs are built on years of research. Tomorrow's advances depend on continuing that work.

This week is Men’s Health Week. A reminder that early detection, prevention, and access to care can save lives.

Many of the cancers that impact men most, including prostate, colorectal, lung, and liver cancers, are more treatable when found early. Yet too many men delay screenings, ignore symptoms, or avoid talking about their health.

At the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center, we’re committed to changing that through research, education, prevention, and access to advanced cancer care and clinical trials close to home for Louisiana and the Gulf South.

This month, encourage the men in your life to schedule screenings, know their family history, and prioritize their health. Because taking care of yourself is one of the strongest things you can do. Learn more: https://www.lcmchealth.org/our-services/men-s-health/

Sunday is National Cancer Survivors Day and we celebrate the strength, resilience, and courage of every survivor whose journey inspires hope across Louisiana and the Gulf South.

Behind every survivor is a community of physicians, nurses, researchers, caregivers, family members, and advocates working together to turn progress in cancer research into more moments, more milestones, and more time with loved ones.

At the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center, we remain committed to advancing research, expanding access to clinical trials, and delivering world-class cancer care close to home because every survivor story matters.

Today, we honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and continue working toward a future with more hope and better outcomes for all. Read more:

No two cancers are the same. Cancer survivors are inspiring. We wanted to take the time to honor and reflect on our patients' cancer journey — in their own words. Read more about their experiences with clinical trials to how they navigate the world of cancer care.
