Taking steps now to prepare can help protect you, your family, your pets, and your community if severe weather strikes. From stocking up on supplies to planning evacuation routes, a little preparation today can make a big difference later.

The LSU School of Public Health encourages everyone to take time now to review emergency plans, gather important documents, and build your hurricane kit before the season gets busy.

Public health research has the power to create real change in our communities.

A recent investigation by WDSU News highlights soil lead levels in playgrounds throughout the area. It features the work of Dr. Katner and the LSU School of Public Health’s Environmental Health research efforts and laboratory space. Previous similar reports helped spark action from local leaders, including efforts with Congressman Troy Carter that secured $15 million to remediate playground soil across the city of New Orleans.

Congratulations to Dr. Katner and her team for helping to get the word out there and for helping make a positive change!

After years of dedicated service, Dr. Elizabeth Levitzky is officially retiring!

Dr. Levitzky was instrumental in developing the LSU School of Public Health’s Bachelor of Science program and has served as an exceptional program director, helping shape the educational journeys of countless students along the way.

Her impact on our school and our students will be felt for years to come, and we are so grateful for everything she has done for LSU SPH.

Stroke prevention starts with awareness—and our alumni are helping lead the conversation. 🧠❤️

LSU School of Public Health MPH alumna Allison Solino recently appeared on FOX 8 WVUE-TV to discuss important steps individuals can take to reduce their risk of stroke and protect their health. We are proud to see our graduates using their public health expertise to educate communities and improve health outcomes across Louisiana and beyond.
