Snippets from a night of endless dancing. I wish I could’ve stopped time and stayed here forever, drenched in sweat, eyes closed and breathing hard. I’ve always loved to dance, but i love it even more when it no longer becomes an option. When the music is so compelling that to stand still feels impossible. Kevin Parker has given that to me for more than 10 years.

At one point I had to stop and just cry. I wish I was exaggerating but alas 🥲 to be with this music I love so much, with an artist I’ve so admired, to have them creating right in front of me, moving and singing and ahhhhh all the things! I’m just so happy. Thank you Kevin!!!

For this full Sturgeon Moon, I’m reminded that things take time, and—if we’re lucky—life is a long, prosperous journey, not an end-goal to meet.

Falling in August on the final breaths of summer, this moon reminds me to pause and enjoy where I am.

During this time of year, we usually fall into one of two camps: manically trying to make the most of summer before it’s gone, or lying in wait, wishing for autumn. Both these mindsets take us out of the present. We’re either lamenting the passage of time or quietly wishing it would hurry the f**k up.

August is a month of transition, and it can be easy to want a spot for secure landing. And rest assured, one will come soon.

But there is also magic in the right now.

The Sturgeon Moon is particularly nuanced in that we still carry the residual fire of summer, but with fall’s softening in the periphery.

How can you bring a slow, steady strength to these final weeks of summer?

If you wish to endure, you must be soft and strong. Take inspiration from the sturgeon’s old soul and slow-burning resilience.

There’s no next place you need to get to. All you have is right now. x

My latest for Yoga Journal ✨ Somewhere along the way, summer started to feel like a checklist. Each time the season rolled around, there was a new trendy destination to visit, a passport stamp to collect, and a long weekend that somehow carried the burden of proof that I was living my “best life.” Which is why this summer, I found myself drawn to the yogic principle of santosha, or contentment.

I wanted to know if wonder really required a physical removal from my daily life, or if I’d simply forgotten how to look around in awe. 🤍
