β€œI want to try Red Light Recovery… but which therapy do I actually need?” πŸ‘€

We get this question ALL the time β€” because not every session at RLR looks the same!

πŸ”΄ Full-Body Red Light + PEMF
Our 24/7 beds combine 5 red + near-infrared wavelengths with optional simultaneous PEMF. Great when you're looking for a full-body approach to recovery and wellness.

⚑ High-Intensity PEMF
Our HUGO Pro sessions are just 12 minutes and use our dual-mat setup (aka the PEMF sandwich πŸ₯ͺ⚑). This is one of our favorites when we're looking at deeper musculoskeletal recovery, soreness and specific areas of discomfort.

πŸ”¦ High-Intensity Red Light Laser
Unlike the beds, this is targeted and technician-guided. We use the laser when we want to focus the light directly on a specific area rather than treating the entire body.

And sometimes? We use more than one. πŸ™Œ

That's one of our favorite things about RLR β€” we have multiple recovery tools available instead of trying to make one therapy fit everyone.

Not sure where to start? Ask us. Tell us what's bothering you or what your recovery goals are, and we'll help you determine which option makes the most sense.

And remember: your first session is FREE to try! ❀️

πŸ”΄ WAVELENGTH WEDNESDAY #5 | 940 nm

We made it to #5! πŸŽ‰

Over the past few weeks, we’ve broken down each of the five wavelengths in our full-body red light/PEMF therapy beds. Today, we’re finishing with our longest wavelength:

πŸŒ‘ 940 nanometers

Like 810 and 830 nm, 940 nm is near-infrared light, meaning it’s invisible to the human eye.

So why include 940 nm when we already have 810 & 830? πŸ‘€

Different NIR wavelengths have different optical properties and interact with tissue differently. At 940 nm, water absorption becomes more significant than at 810–830 nm, giving it a different interaction profile within tissue.

Research involving near-infrared photobiomodulation has explored potential roles in:

πŸ’ͺ Muscle & exercise recovery β€” including performance, fatigue & recovery

πŸ”₯ Inflammation & discomfort β€” PBM has been studied for its potential influence on inflammatory processes and pain

🩸 Circulation & tissue oxygenation β€” including blood flow, oxygen availability & vascular responses

⚑ Cellular function & recovery β€” PBM can influence cellular signaling involved in mitochondrial activity and energy metabolism

But here’s the biggest takeaway from this entire series:

There isn’t one β€œbest” wavelength.

Wavelength is only part of PBM. Intensity, dose, treatment time, target tissue & the combination of wavelengths all matter.

That’s why our beds don’t rely on just one. πŸ™Œ

πŸ”΄ 633 nm β€” visible red
πŸ”΄ 660 nm β€” visible red
πŸŒ‘ 810 nm β€” near-infrared
πŸŒ‘ 830 nm β€” near-infrared
πŸŒ‘ 940 nm β€” near-infrared

Five wavelengths. One full-body system. πŸ”΄

But wait… we’re not quite finished. πŸ‘€

Our beds have another feature that can work simultaneously with all five wavelengths:

⚑ PEMF β€” Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy

So we’re adding a BONUS Wavelength Wednesday #6 to break down what PEMF is, how it works, why it’s used for recovery & wellness, and what makes combining light + electromagnetic fields so unique.

πŸ”΄ + ⚑

You know the wavelengths. Next Wednesday, meet PEMF!

πŸ”΄ WAVELENGTH WEDNESDAY #4 | 830 nm
We’re officially 4 out of 5 wavelengths into our series! πŸ”΄πŸŒ‘

This week, meet 830 nanometers β€” another powerful near-infrared wavelength used in our full-body red light/PEMF therapy beds.

πŸŒ‘ 830 nm = near-infrared light

Just like 810 nm, 830 nm is invisible to the human eye and can pe*****te beyond the more superficial layers reached by visible red light.

So what makes 830 nm important? πŸ‘€

Research involving 830 nm photobiomodulation has explored its potential role in:

πŸ’ͺ Muscle recovery β€” Near-infrared PBM has been studied for supporting recovery following exercise and helping muscles manage fatigue.

🦡 Joints & deeper tissues β€” Because near-infrared light can reach deeper than visible red wavelengths, 830 nm is commonly studied when the target is beneath the skin's surface.

πŸ”₯ Inflammation & discomfort β€” Researchers have investigated 830 nm and similar near-infrared wavelengths for their potential effects on inflammatory processes and pain.

🩹 Tissue repair & healing β€” 830 nm has also been studied for its potential role in supporting cellular processes involved in tissue repair and recovery.

⚑ Cellular function β€” Like other wavelengths used in photobiomodulation, 830 nm can interact with cellular signaling pathways associated with mitochondrial activity and energy production.

So why have both 810 AND 830 nm?

Because photobiomodulation isn't about finding one β€œmagic” wavelength. Different wavelengths have different optical properties, and using multiple wavelengths gives our full-body system a broader range of red and near-infrared light.

Our lineup so far:

πŸ”΄ 633 nm β€” visible red
πŸ”΄ 660 nm β€” visible red
πŸŒ‘ 810 nm β€” near-infrared
πŸŒ‘ 830 nm β€” near-infrared
⏳ ONE MORE TO GO…

Next Wednesday we're finishing the series with our longest wavelength:

940 nm. πŸ‘€

πŸ”΄ WAVELENGTH WEDNESDAY #3 | 810 nm
We’ve covered 633 nm and 660 nm… now we’re going deeper. πŸ‘€

Meet 810 nanometers β€” one of the near-infrared wavelengths in our full-body red light/PEMF therapy beds.

πŸŒ‘ 810 nm = near-infrared light

Unlike our first two wavelengths, you can’t actually see 810 nm with your eyes. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t there!

So why is 810 nm important?

Because near-infrared light can pe*****te deeper into tissue than visible red light, making 810 nm especially interesting in photobiomodulation research.

πŸ”¬ 810 nm has been studied for its potential role in:

πŸ’ͺ Muscle recovery & performance β€” PBM research has explored near-infrared light for muscle recovery, fatigue, and exercise performance.

🦡 Joints & deeper tissues β€” Its greater tissue pe*******on makes near-infrared wavelengths useful to study when the target isn't just at the surface.

πŸ”₯ Inflammation & discomfort β€” Near-infrared PBM has been investigated for its effects on inflammatory processes and pain.

⚑ Cellular energy β€” One of the proposed mechanisms of PBM involves interactions with mitochondria and cellular signaling, which may influence how cells produce and use energy.

🧠 And here's a fascinating one: 810 nm has even been extensively studied in transcranial photobiomodulation research, where scientists are investigating how near-infrared light may affect the brain.

That’s what makes 810 nm so interesting: while our 633 and 660 nm wavelengths give us visible red light, 810 nm takes us into the near-infrared range and allows light to interact with deeper tissues.

And remember, no wavelength works in isolation β€” dose, intensity, treatment time, target tissue, and the combination of wavelengths all matter.

We’re officially 3 out of 5 wavelengths into our series! πŸ”΄πŸŒ‘

Next Wednesday: 830 nm. πŸ‘€

⚑ TURN THE SOUND ON FOR THIS ONE. ⚑

Ever wondered what High-Intensity PEMF Therapy actually looks β€” and sounds β€” like?

This is it. πŸ‘€

At Red Light Recovery, our High-Intensity PEMF sessions are performed using the HUGO Pro and are completely different from the optional simultaneous PEMF available in our 24/7 Red Light + PEMF beds.

For this treatment, you get cozy and slide between TWO PEMF mats β€” one underneath you and one above you.

We like to call it the PEMF sandwich. πŸ₯ͺβš‘πŸ˜‚

During your 12-minute session, our technician gradually increases the intensity to a strong but comfortably tolerable level. As the intensity increases, you can actually feel the electromagnetic pulses β€” and depending on the area being targeted, you may even see the muscles responding to them.

So what do people use PEMF for?

⚑ Muscle recovery & soreness
⚑ Joint discomfort & stiffness
⚑ Back and musculoskeletal pain
⚑ Recovery from training & physical activity
⚑ Supporting circulation and cellular processes
⚑ Bone-healing applications
⚑ General recovery & wellness

And we've been seeing some pretty exciting experiences right here at Red Light Recovery.

One of our clients has been consistently using High-Intensity PEMF for hip pain, while another has incorporated it into their routine for sciatica symptoms. Both have told us they've experienced noticeable improvement and pain relief after just a couple of weeks of consistent sessions β€” typically 2–3 times per week. πŸ™Œ

PEMF has also been studied clinically for several musculoskeletal applications, including low-back pain and osteoarthritis, with research showing potential benefits for pain and function in some populations β€” although results and optimal treatment protocols vary.

And here's something important:

High-Intensity PEMF isn't just for when something hurts.

Athletes and active individuals may also incorporate PEMF into their routine as part of their overall recovery and performance regimen. πŸ’ͺ⚑

The hardest part of your session?

Getting out of the cozy PEMF sandwich when your 12 minutes are up. πŸ˜‚

Not all red light therapy is the same. πŸ‘€πŸ”΄

Our high-intensity red light laser is designed for targeted treatment of specific areas β€” giving us the ability to focus where you need it most!

Unlike our 24/7 full-body red light/PEMF therapy bed, clients don't operate the laser themselves. Treatments are practitioner-guided, which means we can position and use the laser specifically for the area being treated.

And yes… that's me in the video πŸ˜‚
Owner perks!

Whether you're looking for targeted support for recovery, pain, or a specific area that needs some extra attention, we're here to help you figure out which therapy may be the best fit.

WAVELENGTH WEDNESDAY πŸ”΄ | 660 nm

Last week, we kicked off the series with 633 nm. This week, we're moving just a little further into the red light spectrum. πŸ‘€

Meet 660 nanometers.

πŸ”΄ 660 nm = visible red light

Like 633 nm, 660 nm is visible red light and is widely studied in photobiomodulation research.

One area researchers have explored with 660 nm is skin and tissue health, including its potential role in cellular activity and collagen-related processes. 🧬✨

But here's something important to remember:

A wavelength doesn't work alone.

The effects of photobiomodulation can depend on factors like dose, intensity, treatment time, and the tissue being targeted.

So why does our bed use both 633 AND 660 nm?

Because we're not relying on just one wavelength. πŸ”΄

And we're only 2 of 5 into our wavelength lineup…

Next Wednesday: 810 nm πŸ‘€πŸŒ‘

⚑ THIS ISN’T YOUR TYPICAL PEMF SESSION. ⚑

Did you know Red Light Recovery offers High-Intensity PEMF Therapy?

And no β€” this is not the same PEMF option available in our 24/7 Red Light + PEMF beds.

Our High-Intensity PEMF sessions use the HUGO Pro, a professional high-intensity PEMF system capable of producing electromagnetic pulses at intensities up to 12,000 gauss. Its spark-gap technology creates extremely short, nanosecond-scale pulses β€” and trust us, you can feel the difference. ⚑

So what does a session look like?

You’ll get comfortable in our cozy PEMF room and slide between two full-body mats, creating a β€œPEMF sandwich” with electromagnetic pulses delivered from above and below.

Then, over your 12-minute session, our technician gradually increases the intensity based on your individual comfort and tolerance. The goal is to reach a strong but comfortably tolerable level β€” you’ll actually feel the rhythmic pulsing and muscle contractions as the intensity increases.

And all you have to do is lie there. πŸ™Œ

⚑ WHY PEMF?
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy has been studied for its potential effects on:

πŸ’ͺ Muscle recovery & physical function
πŸ”₯ Pain & inflammatory processes
🦡 Joint & musculoskeletal health
🩸 Circulation & cellular processes
⚑ Cellular & mitochondrial activity
🦴 Bone-healing applications

And here's one of the most fascinating areas of emerging research:

🧬 AUTOPHAGY

Autophagy is one of the body's cellular β€œcleanup” and recycling processes. Preclinical research has found that certain PEMF exposures can influence signaling pathways involved in autophagy β€” an exciting area researchers are continuing to investigate.

12 minutes. Up to 12,000 gauss. Full-body high-intensity PEMF. ⚑

Whether you're an athlete focused on recovery, dealing with an area that's been bothering you, or simply curious about taking your recovery routine to another level, this is one therapy you have to experience to understand.

WAVELENGTH WEDNESDAY πŸ”΄ | 633 nm

We’re kicking off our new series by breaking down the five wavelengths used in our full-body red light/PEMF therapy bed β€” one wavelength at a time.

First up: 633 nanometers. πŸ‘€

πŸ”΄ 633 nm = visible red light

Because 633 nm is in the visible red portion of the light spectrum, it can interact more readily with tissues closer to the surface.

Research on photobiomodulation has explored 633 nm for areas such as skin and cellular function, including research related to collagen and skin health.

But here's the important part:

Wavelength is only one piece of the puzzle.
Treatment dose, intensity, exposure time, and the tissue being treated all play a role in how photobiomodulation works.

So when you see 633 nm on our bed, you know you're looking at one specific part of a much bigger picture. πŸ”΄

And this is just #1 of 5.

Next Wednesday: 660 nm πŸ‘€
