Absolute Health

Absolute Health Absolute Health is committed to providing Ocala families, and those of the surrounding communities. Elyaman, known to his patients as “Dr. E” .

Absolute Health was founded in 2006 through the extraordinary vision of Dr. Yousef A. We specialize in caring for both children and adults, making Absolute Health a convenient healthcare solution for your whole family. We maintain separate waiting areas for children and adults to ensure your comfort and we are committed to keeping wait times to a minimum. Our approach to healthcare is unique. At A

bsolute Health, we combine both functional medicine and integrative medicine through a systems oriented approach. Rather than simply treating an isolated set of symptoms, our practitioners form a therapeutic partnership with patients to determine the underlying causes for illness. This is accomplished by taking the time necessary to discover our patients' medical histories and examine the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors which can influence long term health and complex chronic disease. Our treatment plans incorporate the latest in Modern Medicine as well as Natural and Alternative treatments that have been found to contribute significantly to overall health and well-being. It is our mission to provide you and your family with the ABSOLUTE best in healthcare.

Your daily habits may be influencing your genes more than you realize.

Most people think their genes determine their future.

But genes are not the whole story.

Dr. Kara Fitzgerald explains that the foods you eat, the exercise you do, the quality of your sleep, and even how you manage stress can influence gene expression.

In other words, your body is constantly listening to the signals you send it.

A healthy meal doesn’t just provide calories.

Exercise doesn’t just burn calories.

Sleep doesn’t just give you energy.

These daily habits may influence how your body functions, how it responds to stress, and even how it ages.

The small choices you make every day add up.

And over time, they may matter more than you think.

Your genes are listening.

WHO DO YOU TRUST? 🤔

One expert says:

➡️ “If you stop lifting, you’ll lose all your gains.”

Another says:

➡️ “Take a few months off. It’ll make your muscles grow even more.”

One says carbs are the problem.

Another says carbs are the solution.

One says fasting fixes everything.

Another says fasting is destroying your metabolism.

At some point, you’re left standing in front of the mirror wondering:

What’s actually true?

Here’s what the evidence says about muscle:

✅ If you take time off, you’ll lose some muscle.

✅ Your muscles have “memory,” which helps you regain it faster when you return.

✅ There is no strong evidence that taking months off leads to more muscle growth than consistent training.

The problem isn’t that there’s no information.

The problem is there’s too much information.

And a lot of it is designed to sell certainty.

The people who get the best results usually aren’t chasing every new trend.

They’re doing the basics consistently while everyone else is chasing the next hack.

Your body doesn’t need perfection.

It needs consistency.

Heading home after an incredible few days at CFIP and AIC.

This week was filled with meaningful conversations, new friendships, opportunities to teach, opportunities to learn, and a reminder that some of the most important breakthroughs happen when curious people come together and share ideas.

Grateful for everyone who attended my hypertension lecture, stopped by the Humann booth, joined my Ask Me Anything sessions, and connected throughout the conference.

I also had the opportunity to film new content for IFM and contribute to a metabolic health docuseries discussing MASLD and PCOS.

My notebook is full.

My mind is energized.

And I’m excited to bring these ideas home to my patients, colleagues, and the functional medicine community.

Now it’s time to put it all into action.

“Suffering is not pain.”

One of the concepts I found myself reflecting on after Bryce Fuemmeler’s closing presentation at AIC was this equation:

Suffering = Pain × Resistance

Pain is often unavoidable.

Illness.
Loss.
Disappointment.
Failure.
Heartbreak.

But resistance is the part where we fight reality:

“This shouldn’t be happening.”
“Why me?”
“I can’t accept this.”

The idea is that while pain is often outside our control, our response to it is not.

As I reflected on it, I found myself wondering whether there is another variable in the equation:

Meaning.

Because people can endure extraordinary pain when they find purpose in it.

What do you think?

Today I had the opportunity to film new educational content for the Institute for Functional Medicine on the connection between cardiometabolic health and mental health.

For too long, we have treated the brain and body as separate systems.

We now know that insulin resistance can affect cognition, inflammation can influence mood, sleep impacts metabolic health, and metabolic dysfunction can alter how we think, feel, and function.

The future of medicine lies in understanding these connections and helping patients address the root causes that bridge both physical and mental well-being.

Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation and excited to share the finished content when it becomes available.

One of the things I love about conferences like AIC is that they give me time to step away from the daily grind, reflect, and think about the bigger picture.

Medicine continues to humble me.

The more I learn, the more I realize that some of the most important answers come from seeing connections that others miss.

A reflection from the San Diego harbor after a great day of learning, teaching, and connecting.

You can slow aging as a vegan… but there’s a catch.

Dr. Kara Fitzgerald explains that it’s absolutely possible to support healthy aging on a vegan or vegetarian diet.

But you have to be intentional.

Nutrients like:
• omega-3s
• B12
• folate
• iron
• quality protein

become especially important.

One of the most interesting findings from her research was that participants improved methyl folate levels through food-based interventions alone.

That matters because nutrition doesn’t just affect energy or weight.

It can influence:
• inflammation
• gene expression
• biological aging
• long-term health outcomes

This is why diet quality matters more than labels.

Not just “vegan” or “non-vegan.”
Intentional nutrition.
