In recognition of National Community Health Worker Awareness Week, the Oklahoma Hospital Association is highlighting the community health workers serving patients and communities across Oklahoma.

Through multiple funding sources, OHA is integrating 40 community health workers into hospitals across the state. CHWs help connect patients with resources such as food, transportation, housing, healthcare services, medications and other support that can address barriers to better health.

Their work strengthens the connection between hospitals, public health and communities while helping patients navigate the unique challenges that can affect their health and well-being. Thank you to all of Oklahoma’s community health workers for the important work you do every day.

The Republican gubernatorial runoff is Aug. 25. Hear directly from runoff candidates Gentner Drummond and Mike Mazzei as they discuss issues important to Oklahoma healthcare, including the challenges facing hospitals, healthcare professionals and patients across the state.

In an op-ed in The Journal Record, Rich Rasmussen, OHA president and CEO, discusses OHA’s partnership with the To***co Settlement Endowment Trust through its Healthy Oklahoma Communities Initiative and how hospitals can help address factors that influence health beyond the hospital.

Rasmussen highlights the work of OHA’s Foundation for a Healthy Oklahoma and hospitals across the state to address challenges such as food insecurity, transportation barriers, housing instability and chronic disease management.
