So powerful!! So much of society is not LIVING in the present moment. It’s about worry, stress and deny. Honor yourself, shift to the present moment and find the honor, love and joy in the present moment 🌀💗
"Give up waiting as a state of mind. When you catch yourself slipping into waiting, snap out of it. Come into the present moment. Just be and enjoy being."
- Eckhart Tolle
For a long time, I lived in a state of waiting.
Not waiting for a bus.
Not waiting for an appointment.
But a deeper kind of waiting.
An inner voice constantly whispering:
"When that happens, then I'll really start living."
"When this situation changes, then I'll be happy."
"When I achieve that goal, everything will be okay."
My mind was always projecting itself into the future.
And without realizing it,
I was missing the life that was unfolding right in front of me.
One example I often experienced was:
"When I get paid, then I'll be okay."
And when payday arrived,
the mind immediately moved the goalpost:
"When I buy a house."
Then:
"When I find the right relationship."
Then:
"When I finally feel financially secure."
Life became an endless chain of:
"Not yet."
Or another example:
I'm driving to work.
My mind says:
"I can't wait to get there."
Then I arrive.
Now it's:
"I can't wait for the workday to be over."
At the end of the day:
"I can't wait to get home."
When I get home:
"I can't wait for the weekend."
When the weekend arrives:
"I can't wait for my next vacation."
And so it goes.
An entire life spent waiting for the next moment.
While the only moment that ever truly exists
is this one.
It took me a long time to realize that this habit of waiting was quietly postponing my life.
I kept believing:
"My real life will begin later."
But later never arrives.
Because when the future comes,
it arrives as another present moment.
Eckhart Tolle says:
"Give up waiting as a state of mind."
Give up waiting as a way of living.
Not by giving up your goals.
But by recognizing that life does not happen when you finally achieve something in the future.
Life is happening now.
And sometimes,
the very thing you've been waiting for in order to start enjoying life
is already here,
right in front of you,
in this moment.
