Free Market Medical Association

Free Market Medical Association Our Goal is to bring together buyers and sellers of healthcare good and services - while reducing costs and increasing quality. Cash is cash.

ABOUT THE FMMA
The FMMA is a non-partisan association that provides resources, support, and education to our members, and to the public, about the free market movement and why it is so important. We help to defend and expand the practice of free market medicine against the interference and intrusion of the government or other third parties. PILLARS OF THE FREE MARKET
Due to the wildly varying defi

nitions of transparency and free market in this industry, many of which are neither free market or transparent, the FMMA has designated these pillars as the foundation of the Association. Our members are asked to always abide by these pillars; using ethics and transparency in all areas of their businesses. The Free Market works when there is freedom of choice. Price - PRICE is NOT a product, the CARE is the product. Selling access to pricing is anti-free market

Value - VALUE is established when the buyer and seller agree on a mutually beneficial price for care. Equality - Price EQUALITY is the basis of a free market. Any willing buyer should be offered the same price regardless of any factor. Go to fmma.org to learn more about the benefits of becoming a member!

Imagine buying a car without knowing the price.

Or booking a hotel and receiving the bill weeks later.

Sounds unreasonable, right?

Yet that's often how healthcare works.

But there's a better way forward:

Transparency creates choice.
Choice creates competition.
Competition creates value.

FMMA co-founder Jay Kempton shares why the organization was formed: to bring buyers and sellers of healthcare together.

When patients, employers, and providers can connect directly, with clear pricing and aligned incentives, better decisions become possible. Transparency improves understanding, strengthens trust, and allows value to guide care.

FMMA continues to support the relationships and solutions that enable voluntary exchange in healthcare.

At a Senate hearing on healthcare modernization, Dr. Keith Smith described a system in which ballooning deductibles and rising denials are making affordable care harder to access.

The ideas behind the FMMA offer a different path forward:

➑️ Publish prices.
➑️ Remove hidden middlemen.
➑️ Allow buyers and sellers to work directly together.
➑️ Compete on quality and value.
➑️ Give patients the information they need to make decisions.

Healthcare becomes more affordable when markets are allowed to function.

FMMA Executive Director Matt Ohrt breaks down the options when breaking a monopoly.

🚫 1) Expecting entrenched systems to act against their own interests rarely results in meaningful change.
🚫 2) Mandates and regulations disrupt free market systems and do not create the aligned incentives needed for lasting improvement.
βœ… 3) Real progress happens when professionals create alternatives.

Across the country, physicians, ambulatory surgery centers, direct primary care practices, and forward-thinking employers and organizations are building transparent, patient-centered models that operate with clarity and accountability.

As more alternatives emerge, concentrated control weakens naturally, and better options become available.

The Free Market Medical Association supports the growing network of professionals developing practical free-market healthcare solutions grounded in transparency, value, and choice.

FMMA co-founder Dr. Keith Smith is encouraged by the growing recognition of price transparency in healthcare.

What was once considered unconventional is increasingly understood as common sense. Clear, upfront pricing helps patients make informed decisions, supports value-based competition, and allows providers to practice with greater independence.

Transparency is not a trend. It is a foundational component of a functional healthcare marketplace.

The Free Market Medical Association continues to support providers, employers, and organizations advancing free market healthcare solutions built on clarity, trust, and choice.
