Program Evaluators from MMI's Department of Education and Child Development traveled to 51 afterschool sites in the spring as part of a statewide, 2-year research project. Operated by the EASEL Lab at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the SEL Kernels provide flexible, low-cost, and bite-sized strategies that afterschool programs can use to support students' social, emotional, and character growth.

The Munroe-Meyer Institute partners with the EASEL Lab as the data collection team for Kernels sites in Nebraska. Over 2400 K-2 students participated in the program in 2024-25.
