🏅This Years’s 2026 Zach Martin Foundation Scholarship Recipient is Laura Sendra!

The mission of the Zach Martin Foundation is to provide education and awareness to athletes, coaches, and parents about Exertional Heat Illness (EHI). Exertional Heat Stroke (EHS) is 100% survivable if recognized and treated properly on site.

🩺This was a day that could shape a career! 🍏

We were pleased to welcome 68 high school students who spent part of their summer discovering what a future in healthcare can look like at this year's Health Leaders Summer Academy.

Presented in partnership with the UCF College of Medicine, the academy gives students an inside look at career paths that help build stronger and healthier communities. Throughout the day, participants gained hands-on experience, from working with simulated patients to examining assistive technology to learning about movement as medicine.

Students also toured our state-of-the-art Rehabilitation Innovation Center, where they experienced some of our unique technologies that support education, research and patient care, including holograms, manikins and our immersive simulation suite. We can't wait to see where these inspired healthcare leaders go next!

UCF MAT and UCF DPT students completed 960 musculoskeletal screens at East River High School! Students receive no cost physical exams at these events. Many thanks to Be A Player for all they do for our community!

The Institute of Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation Science is now accepting student abstracts for poster and podium presentations at its annual conference held October 16-17, 2026. Students can choose to present completed projects, preliminary data, or a research proposal, with prizes awarded to the top presenters.

🎉🎉 The REhabilitation, Athletic assessment, & DYnamic imaging (READY) Lab at the University of Central Florida is seeking individuals ages 18+ that are clinicians, practitioners, healthcare providers, or students that could use functional testing with their patients or clients, to complete a survey. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. The purpose of this study is to determine what functional testing is being used, how often it is used, and what barriers exist to conducting functional testing with patients/clients.

🎉 UCF MAT made an excellent showing at this year's NATA. Recent graduates Dr. Rebecca Carson (Kinesiology PhD), Kacey Beato (MAT), Dr. Andrew Skibski (Kinesiology PhD), and Dr. Luk Devorski (Kinesiology PhD), were amazing during their presentations.

Combined with the star power of Dr. Kristen Schellhase, Dr. Colby Mangum, Dr. Grant Norte, and Ms. Dynesha Patterson (Kinesiology MS), the UCF crew were standouts at the national conference.

🏆🏆🏆 Huge congratulations to three of our amazing MAT students for winning scholarships from ATAF (two this year and one from last year).

Sarah Marino was awarded the 2026 Hall of Fame Legacy Scholarship by ATAF!

Laura Sendra was awarded two scholarships, the 2026 Zach Martin Foundation and the 2026 Rafe Maccarone Scholarship!

Last but by no means least, last year's Zach Martin Foundation scholarship was awarded to Christina Pastrana.
