🌿 What Does a Clinical Herbalist Do? 🌿

As a clinical herbalist, I work one-on-one with clients to look at the whole person, not just a diagnosis or individual symptom.

During an herbal consultation, we take a deeper look at your health history, current concerns, medications and supplements, diet, sleep, stress, digestion, energy, and other patterns that may be affecting your overall well-being.

From there, I create an individualized herbal and wellness plan based on you and your unique needs. 🌱

Some of the areas I work with include:

🌿 Women’s & men’s health support
🌿 Lyme disease & co-infections
🌿 Autoimmune conditions
🌿 Immune system support
🌿 Depression, anxiety, stress & nervous system support
🌿 Digestive health
🌿 Sleep concerns
🌿 General health & wellness
🌿 And more

Clinical herbalism isn’t simply about matching an herb to a symptom. Two people can come to me with the same condition or concern and need very different herbal support.

I take the time to look at the bigger picture and choose herbs based on the individual, while also considering medications, supplements, and potential herb-drug interactions.

My goal is to support the body’s natural processes and help each person work toward greater balance and overall wellness. 💚

If you’ve been curious about working with a clinical herbalist or would like to know if an herbal consultation may be right for you, feel free to reach out.

🌿 The Queen of Herbs 🌿

As I sit quietly bundling fresh Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum), also known as Holy Basil, I’m filled with gratitude.

Tulsi wasn’t simply the first herb I grew—she was the first plant to awaken my spirit. She called me onto a path my soul had been longing to remember, opening my heart to the wisdom of the Green Ones and forever changing the course of my life. Because of that, I honor her year after year, tending her from seed to harvest with love, reverence, and gratitude.

Revered in Ayurveda as The Queen of Herbs, Tulsi has been cherished for thousands of years as a sacred plant, woven into daily life and spiritual practice. Traditionally used as an adaptogen, she has long been used to support the body’s response to stress while also supporting the nervous system, immune health, respiratory wellness, digestion, and overall vitality.

Each bundle is harvested by hand, tied with intention, and hung to dry. There is a certain kind of magic in these quiet moments—the scent of Tulsi filling the air, the rhythm of my hands at work, and the gentle reminder that the plants are always offering their gifts to those willing to slow down and listen.

Thank you, Tulsi, for being my first plant ally—for whispering me back to the Earth, calling me onto a path my soul had been longing to remember, and opening my heart to the wisdom of the Green Ones. It is a sacred honor to grow, harvest, and celebrate you with each passing season.

May we never lose our sense of wonder. 🌿✨

🌿💜 Bee Balm (Monarda fistulosa) 💜🌿

The apothecary is filling with the beautiful aroma of freshly harvested Bee Balm (Monarda fistulosa), one of my favorite herbs to gather each summer.

Also known as Wild Bergamot, this vibrant member of the mint family has been treasured in traditional Western herbalism for generations because of its warming, aromatic nature.

Traditionally, Bee Balm has been associated with supporting:

🌸 The respiratory system, bringing warmth and aromatic comfort.

🌿 Healthy digestion, especially when there is occasional sluggishness or digestive discomfort.

💜 A sense of calm and balance, encouraging relaxation and helping to ease everyday tension.

✨ Healthy circulation and the body’s natural flow, making it a beautiful herb for times when we feel stagnant or “stuck.”

As I hang each bundle to dry, I’m reminded that every harvest is more than preparing herbs—it’s a chance to slow down, connect with the seasons, and honor the incredible gifts the plants share with us.

Every herb has a story, and Bee Balm reminds me that healing often begins by simply taking a deep breath, reconnecting with nature, and embracing the abundance that surrounds us.

With gratitude,

🌿✨ Into the Forest for Royal Fern ✨🌿

This morning I wandered into the forest, where the air was cool, the birds sang from the treetops, and the ferns swayed gently in the breeze. There, growing with quiet strength and ancient beauty, was Royal Fern (Osmunda regalis)—one of the oldest fern species still thriving on Earth.

Harvesting herbs is never just about gathering plants. For me, it’s about slowing down, asking permission, offering gratitude, and honoring the relationship between people and the living world. Every walk into the forest is a reminder that nature is our greatest teacher.

In traditional Western herbalism, Royal Fern has long been associated with the bones, spine, and deep structural support. Herbalist Matthew Wood has written about its traditional affinity for the lower back and skeletal system, reminding us that some of our oldest plant allies still have much to teach.

Today’s fresh harvest has already found its way into a tincture, preserving the vitality of this remarkable fern while it is at its peak.

I am deeply grateful for these moments in the woods, for the wisdom of the plants, and for the opportunity to continue learning from them with respect and reverence.

May we never lose our connection to the forests, the wild places, and the ancient green beings that have quietly shared this Earth with us for millions of years. 🌿💚

The garden is whispering, and the apothecary is alive with the magic of the season. 🌿✨

Today, I gathered delicate marshmallow flowers, their soft blossoms carrying the gentle, nurturing spirit of the plant. Nearby, the vibrant bee balm is ready to be hung, where it will slowly dry and preserve its fiery, heart-opening energy.

The milky oat tops have now been tucked into tincture, captured at that fleeting moment when they are rich with their nourishing milky essence—a gift that only comes for a short time each year.

Every harvest is a quiet ritual. Every jar holds the story of sunshine, rain, rich soil, and gratitude. This is the rhythm of herbalism I cherish most—working with the seasons, honoring the plants, and trusting their wisdom.

May these beautiful allies continue to bring healing, comfort, and a little bit of magic into the world. 🌙💚

✨ Blessed harvests to all who walk the green path.
