Thinking of getting a Japanese traditional tattoo? 🇯🇵🐉 It’s more than just koi fish and dragons; Irezumi is a sacred art form with deep cultural roots and very specific rules:
✅ Traditional motifs like tigers, samurai, cherry blossoms, and waves
✅ Designed to flow with the body — not just placed randomly
✅ Every image carries meaning — nothing is just for “aesthetic”
✅ Even the background shading (kuro-bori) has purpose
👉 If your design doesn’t follow these principles, it might look Japanese… but it’s not truly traditional.
👉 Mixing in random elements or customizing too much? That’s imitation — not Irezumi.
💡 If you want the real deal, go to someone who respects the culture and follows the rules - Not following the rules can be seen as disrespectful or ignorant, especially by Japanese tattoo masters who have dedicated their lives to preserving this art.
