🚨 Not every UTI symptom is actually a UTI.

Urinary urgency, frequency, burning, pelvic pressure, and discomfort can sometimes have causes beyond the bladder itself—including pelvic floor dysfunction.

As urologists point out, the urinary system doesn’t exist in isolation. The bladder, vulvar and vaginal tissues, hormones, and pelvic floor muscles are all part of the larger pelvic ecosystem, and changes in one area can affect the others.

“Where we fall short is the ge***al part, and that requires a much broader understanding of the pelvic ecosystem as a whole — the hormonal environment, vulvar tissue, and pelvic floor musculature, all influencing each other and all capable of producing symptoms that look exactly like a UTI.”

— Dr. A. Uloko, via NPR

At Pelvic Love Physio, we frequently see pelvic floor dysfunction mimic bladder symptoms. The good news? Pelvic floor physical therapy can be an effective part of treatment when muscle tension, coordination, or dysfunction is contributing to those symptoms. 💛

If you’re experiencing ongoing bladder or pelvic symptoms, it may be worth looking beyond the bladder.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. 🩵

Ovarian cancer symptoms can sometimes be easy to overlook because they may feel like everyday digestive or hormonal changes. That’s why it’s important to pay attention to symptoms that are new, persistent, or unusual for you.

Symptoms may include:
• Persistent bloating or abdominal swelling
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Feeling full quickly or difficulty eating
• Changes in bowel or bladder habits
• Unexplained fatigue or changes in your overall health

Know your body. Know the signs. And don’t be afraid to speak up when something doesn’t feel right. 💙

This event is designed to give women a place to ask questions, learn something new, connect with others, and leave feeling a little more empowered in their own health. ✨

“It’s just part of being a woman.”
How many times have women heard that?

Painful periods. Pelvic pain. Leaking. Pain with s*x. Hormonal changes. Pregnancy and postpartum symptoms.

These things deserve to be talked about—and treated. 💗

Women deserve to be listened to. Women deserve answers. And women deserve healthcare that takes their concerns seriously.

Let’s make women’s health a priority—not an afterthought.
