Candy talk, minus the guilt 🎃🤍

Here’s how we handle Halloween at our house, as a dentist and a mom. Short version: chocolate over sticky, water with treats, and no stress over one night of trick-or-treating.

A positive first visit can shape how your child feels about the dentist for the rest of their life, so we take that seriously, and we want you to feel just as prepared as they are.

So here’s a few gentle tips that make a real difference:

-playing “dentist” at home beforehand
-being mindful of your own energy walking in
-choosing a good time of day
-coming a few minutes early to let them settle in
-making sure they’ve had a snack
-a quick potty break before we get started.

Even with all the prep in the world, some visits are still going to have tears, and that’s okay too. Our whole team is trained to meet your child exactly where they are, with patience and gentleness, every single time.

So many of the signs of an airway concern don’t look like airway concerns at all. It’s easy to write them off as separate things, but they’re often connected and that’s what we love about looking at the whole child. When we zoom out and ask the right questions, the dots start to connect.

Now, parents, here’s the part I really want you to hear.. one sign isn’t a diagnosis. It’s simply a reason to look a little closer. Lots of kids have one or two of these, and that’s okay. It’s the full picture we care about around here.

We get that waiting until there’s a problem sounds responsible, but it’s actually the opposite.

Most of the reasons we hear for delaying your kiddo’s dental visit come from a good place, but we want you to know that the earlier we see your little one, the easier it is to prevent problems before they even arise and keep their smile healthy.

Plus, your child gets to build a positive, low-pressure relationship with their dentist (yay) before there’s ever a reason to be nervous 🫶🏻
