Asking for help can be one of the hardest parts of needing a kidney transplant.

😥 For many patients, it comes with guilt, fear, and one difficult question:
“How can I ask someone to give me a kidney?”

But sharing your story isn’t the same as asking someone to donate. 🫂

Advocacy starts with people willing to share their story. 💚

This week, our Administrative Coordinator, Macy Crowell, participated in Rare Kidneys on the Hill in Washington, D.C.

As someone living with kidney disease herself, she joined patients, caregivers, physicians, and researchers from across the country to meet with members of Congress and advocate for greater awareness, research, and support for the rare kidney disease community.

At the APKD, we believe that creating change happens in many ways—through innovation, education, partnership, and by empowering patients to use their voices.

We’re incredibly proud of you, Macy!
