🥦 Don't underestimate the power of cruciferous vegetables! 🥦

If you're looking to support your body's natural detoxification processes and promote hormone balance, it's time to load up your plate with cruciferous veggies.

These nutritional powerhouses include:
✨ Broccoli
✨ Cauliflower
✨ Brussels sprouts
✨ Cabbage
✨ Kale
✨ Arugula
✨ Bok choy

So what makes them so special?

Cruciferous vegetables contain natural compounds called glucosinolates, which are broken down into beneficial substances that support the body's natural detoxification pathways—especially in the liver.

They also contain compounds such as sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol (I3C), which may help support healthy estrogen metabolism. This is one reason cruciferous vegetables are often recommended as part of a hormone-supportive diet.

Plus, they're packed with:
✅ Fiber to support digestion and elimination
✅ Antioxidants to help protect cells from oxidative stress
✅ Vitamins and minerals that support overall wellness

One of the simplest ways to support your body is to give it the nutrients it needs to do what it was designed to do.

🌱 Challenge: Add one serving of cruciferous vegetables to one day this weekend. Roast them, toss them in a salad, blend them into a smoothie, or sauté them with your favorite seasonings.

What's your favorite cruciferous veggie? Mine is Brussels sprouts! 👇

💜 Testimonial Tuesday 💜

Perimenopause has a way of throwing a wrench into things. 😅 One day you feel like yourself, and the next you're wondering why you're suddenly hot all the time, tired, irritable, or dealing with cravings that seem to come out of nowhere.

That's why I love hearing stories like this:

"I love the HER jellies! I used to feel hot all the time, day and night, and I've noticed a huge difference since taking them. I'm not constantly overheated anymore, and I've also felt less irritable, less hungry, and more energized throughout the day."

While every woman's journey is different, supporting your body with quality nutrition & herbal support can make a real difference during this season of change.

If you've been feeling like perimenopause has turned your body into a bit of a mystery, let's chat about some simple ways to support your hormones and overall wellness.

Feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, or just “off”? 🌿

One simple thing that can make a BIG difference… grounding. Also called “earthing.”

Grounding is simply connecting your body to the earth — walking barefoot in the grass, sitting outside, gardening, or spending time in nature.

Some benefits people often notice:
✨ Better sleep
✨ Less stress & anxiety
✨ Improved mood
✨ Reduced inflammation
✨ More calm & mental clarity
✨ Better nervous system balance
✨ Feeling more centered & connected

Sometimes the body just needs a pause from the constant stimulation, screens, noise, and stress.

Try this today:
☀️ 10–20 minutes outside
👣 Bare feet in the grass
🌬️ Deep breathing
🙏 Prayer, gratitude, or quiet time

Simple things often matter most. 💚

🔥 Grilling season is here! 🔥

Before you reach for that bottle of marinade, take a quick look at the ingredient list.

Many store-bought marinades and sauces contain ingredients like:
❌ Seed oils
❌ High fructose corn syrup
❌ Artificial flavors and preservatives
❌ Added sugars

The good news? Making your own marinade is surprisingly simple and gives you complete control over what goes on your food.

🥩 My go-to basic marinade:
• 1/4 cup olive oil or avocado oil
• Juice from 1 lemon
• 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tsp sea salt
• 1/2 tsp black pepper
• Fresh herbs like rosemary, thyme, or parsley

Simply whisk together, pour over your favorite meat, and marinate for a few hours before grilling. I'm also sharing 3 more easy DIY marinades!

Not only can homemade marinades add incredible flavor, but they also allow you to skip many of the unnecessary additives found in some packaged products.

Remember, healthy eating doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it's as simple as swapping a bottle from the store shelf for a few ingredients from your kitchen.

Wellness Wednesday! 🌞

Skip the toxic aloe gel from the store that contains fragrance, food colors, etc!

Have you gotten a sunburn already this summer? It can be MISERABLE! Last 4th of July, I forgot to sunscreen my back properly and ended up with a horrible sunburn. It was the worst pain I've felt in a while, So I decided to look up the best tips for healing a sunburn and share them with you...

🌱 Here are 5 Home remedies for sunburns:
Aloe Vera - Aloe gel provides anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antipruritic (relieves itching), analgesic (pain relieving) and anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe sunburned skin. In one study, aloe gel exhibited greater anti-inflammatory effects that 1% hydrocortisone gel in the treatment of ultraviolet light induced erythema (sunburn) 🙌

Hyaluronic Acid - Melissa Doft MD, plastic surgeon, suggests applying a serum infused with hyaluronic acid to speed healing. Hyaluronic acid is a hydrating substance naturally produced by the body that can help moisturize and plump sun-parched skin without causing further irritation.

White Vinegar - Because it is composed of acetic acid, vinegar can help with pain 😫 and inflammation from the burn and prevent potential infection.

Baking Soda - A cold compress composed of baking soda and water can help balance the pH of burned skin. Apply compress to affected area x 15 min.

Silver Shield Rescue Gel - This gel is designed for use in wound care management to help prevent the growth of infectious microorganisms. It contains 24 ppm of pure silver in a water based topical gel. I have used this for years to help heal sunburns and speed wound healing! It is amazing. You can also add a drop of lavender essential oil to help calm irritated skin.

Rowe Casa After Sun Spray - This touch-free spray is a must-have after too much fun in the sun. After Sun Spray provides quick relief for sunburned and chapped skin, calming the sting and heat that comes with overexposure to the sun. As it locks in moisture and soothes irritated skin, it can also help aid in minimizing itching and peeling associated with burns. It also can be used for quick relief from burns from ovens, curling irons, and more and offers relief for blisters.

🥩 Does the quality of your meat matter? Absolutely!

When we think about healthy eating, we often focus on fruits and vegetables. However, the quality of the meat we consume matters too.

Many conventionally raised animals may receive antibiotics during production. While regulations require withdrawal periods before animals enter the food supply, the widespread use of antibiotics in agriculture has raised concerns about antibiotic resistance and may impact the overall quality of our food system.

One thing I find interesting is that antibiotic-related stressors sometimes show up on clients' scans, even when they haven't taken antibiotics in years. It often opens up a conversation about potential exposures in their environment, including the meats they consume.

Choosing higher-quality meat when possible can be one way to support your wellness goals. Look for options such as:

✅ Grass-fed and grass-finished beef
✅ Pasture-raised poultry and eggs
✅ Responsibly raised pork
✅ Meat labeled "raised without antibiotics" or "no antibiotics ever"
✅ Locally sourced meats from farmers you know and trust (If you don't have one, I can recommend a great one!)

Remember, healthy eating isn't about perfection. If upgrading all your meat choices isn't realistic right now, start small. Even replacing one or two purchases each week can help you become a more informed consumer.

Do you have a favorite local source for quality meat?

Are you curious about what stressors may be impacting your body? A wellness assessment can help uncover areas that may benefit from additional support and give you a personalized starting point for your wellness journey. Message me to learn more or schedule your scan.

Seed oils 🚫

You may have heard more people talking about avoiding seed oils lately. But what are they, and why are some people choosing to avoid them?

Common seed oils include:
• Canola oil
• Soybean oil
• Corn oil
• Cottonseed oil
• Sunflower oil
• Safflower oil
• Grapeseed oil
• Rice bran oil

These oils are commonly found in:
🍟 Fried foods
🍪 Packaged snacks
🥫 Processed foods
🥗 Many bottled dressings and sauces

Seed oils are often highly processed and are high in omega-6 fatty acids. While we need some omega-6s, most people consume far too much. And when your omega-3/omega-6 ratio gets imbalanced, it can cause chronic inflammation. This is why it’s best to limit seed oils and stick to healthier options, such as:

🥑 Avocados and avocado oil
🫒 Olive oil
🥥 Coconut oil
🥜 Nuts and seeds
🐟 Fatty fish

Being mindful of the ingredients you choose is a simple way to support a healthy lifestyle.
