Nurses Week was extra sweet thanks to one of our amazing Community Liaisons, Jordan, who hosted an ice cream truck at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Savannah 🍦💙

It was such a fun way to celebrate and show appreciation for the hardworking nurses who give so much to their patients every single day. Thank you to all nurses for your compassion, dedication, and heart — you truly make a difference!

1. Where are you originally from, and what's one thing you still love about it? I'm from Savannah, born and raised, and I love the patient care here.

2. What's a hobby, interest, or activity you never get tired of? Crafting and baking

3. If you had a full day off with no responsibilities, how would you spend it? Crafting and watching TV

4. What's one fun surprising fact about you that most people don't know? I love the color purple and love making tumbler cups

5. What song, movie, or TV show can you watch or listen to over and over again? The Color Purple and Steel Magnolias

6. In one sentence, what makes hospice work meaningful to you? The empathy and compassion hospice workers have towards people.

This National Volunteer Week, we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating the heart of Bridge Hospice—our incredible volunteers! 💙

As a small token of our appreciation, our Volunteer Coordinator took them out for lunch to say THANK YOU for the compassion, time, and love they pour into our patients and families every single day. Your kindness does not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful to have such a dedicated and selfless team.

Because of you, we’re able to bring comfort, connection, and dignity to those we serve. We truly couldn’t do this without you!

Meet Renee 💙

🌟 What made you decide to volunteer with us? I decided to volunteer for hospice because hospice made such a difference in my life when they were there for my mom and me. They came in and made me feel like I was not all alone and I wanted to give back in a way that would make a difference in a family‘s life.

📍 Where are you from? I am originally born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. What I love most about where I was born is the diversity of life - the food, the dialects, the events. It’s a great place to learn about life and people.

🎨 What do you love to do in your free time? In my spare time, I love to talk to my children and grandchildren, cook, take walks, and read my Bible.

💫 Fun fact about you: I love the Lord (Elohim), animals, swings, and the view of the moon.

🌟 What made you decide to volunteer with us? I decided to volunteer to free my mind a little from the grief of losing my son. I figured if I could give back, that would honor who he was, a giver.

🎨 What do you love to do in your free time? In my free time, I love to get my grandkids. They keep me young.

I love engaging with people to bring comfort and a sense of purpose.
📍 Where are you from, and what do you love about it? I’ve lived in the southeast, Midwest, and west in the U.S. My favorite place to live has been Savannah. I love the historical nature of the surroundings, trees that have been here a LONG time, people who are fun to be with and get to know, water everywhere.
🎨 What do you love to do in your free time? Volunteering or spending time in or near the water, etc.
💫 Fun fact about you: I’m older than I look and I have five grown children.

We had an amazing time at the Healthy Aging Expo! 💙

It was such a joy connecting with so many wonderful individuals, sharing resources, and celebrating the importance of healthy aging in the community. Events like these remind us why we do what we do!

A special thank you to Midway YMCA and Visiting Angels for inviting Bridge Hospice to be a part of such a meaningful event. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and serve together.
