Yarrow is a hardy flowering plant that has been valued in traditional herbal practices for centuries. Recognizable by its feathery leaves and clusters of tiny white (sometimes pink) blossoms, yarrow has earned nicknames like ā€œsoldier’s woundwortā€ because of its historical use in folk traditions for supporting skin wellness and first-aid preparations.
Historically, many cultures used yarrow in teas, salves, and poultices as part of traditional wellness practices. Herbalists have long appreciated it for its naturally aromatic, bitter, and astringent qualities. It was often included in preparations intended to support the body during seasonal discomfort, promote digestive balance, and as part of topical herbal care.
Traditionally, yarrow has been used to support:• General wellness during seasonal changes• Healthy digestion and bitter digestive stimulation• Topical skin-soothing herbal preparations• Traditional relaxation and calming rituals
Yarrow is also beloved in pollinator gardens, attracting bees and beneficial insects while adding resilience and beauty to herbal landscapes.
A note of care: Yarrow belongs to the Asteraceae family (alongside chamomile and ragweed), so those with sensitivities to plants in this family should use caution. It is best approached as an educational botanical and used thoughtfully within traditional herbal contexts.

Maclie Vellie let us in on her little experiment. And we couldn’t be happier!

She used a super popular tattoo aftercare on the bottom arm leaves.

She used Rooted In Ink on the top ones.

Guess which tat has better color retention and brightness on the skin? I’d like better pics but we were so busy at Freakshow that we did our best, but the difference was clear!

That’d be MINE! 🄰 Rooted In Ink for the win! We’re going to be making aftercare for her cosmetic tattoo procedures as well. Another beautiful small business collab in the making!!!
