“I wouldn’t be here without the folks at this ER."

When Thomas Covey began experiencing unusual chest tightness, he knew he shouldn’t ignore it. He thought of his neighbor, Emily Henry, a nurse at TriStar Lovers Lane ER.

There was a problem: Thomas didn’t know where the ER was, so he called his neighbor.

Hundreds of miles away at her bridal shower, Emily gave Thomas the address. That phone call launched Thomas's journey through three TriStar Health facilities, ultimately saving his life.

Thomas received emergency care at TriStar Lovers Lane ER before being transferred to TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital for advanced cardiac care. When physicians determined he needed emergency heart surgery, his care team coordinated a transfer to TriStar Centennial Medical Center for a quadruple bypass surgery.

After recovering, Thomas returned to TriStar Lovers Lane ER with family and treats in hand to say thank you! ❤

This weekend, colleagues from across TriStar Health came together to support heart health in the communities we’re proud to serve. ❤️

With participation from all of our Nashville-area TriStar Health facilities, our teams raised more than $110,000 for the American Heart Association — helping support its work to improve cardiovascular health and save lives.

A special shoutout to our colleagues at TriStar Horizon Medical Center, who brought the celebration home to Dickson by hosting their first Heart Walk at the hospital. We’re proud to see our colleagues showing up for healthier communities across Middle Tennessee.

"I am here because of what your team did."

In June, Pastor Michael Peasall arrived at the TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center emergency department experiencing a massive heart attack. His care team quickly recognized how serious his condition was and rushed him to the cardiac cath lab, where they discovered five blocked coronary arteries.

Every minute mattered. Michael received an emergency balloon angioplasty to restore blood flow and stabilize, giving him the time he needed to safely reach TriStar Centennial Medical Center for quintuple bypass surgery.

Two weeks later, Michael returned to TriStar Hendersonville to personally thank the cath lab team.

“Today are we lucky to be here because of the people who step up when we need them the most."

Nearly three months after a devastating taco truck explosion changed their lives, Tim and Tiffany McPherson returned to thank many of the people who helped care for them.

On June 4, the TNT Tacos owners were seriously injured when their food truck exploded. Both suffered severe burns and were airlifted to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where their recovery included surgery and specialized burn care.

Their reunion at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County brought together first responders, healthcare professionals and members of the teams involved in their care — an example of the collaboration that helps connect patients with the right care when every moment matters.

The gathering was especially meaningful as TriStar Skyline celebrates five years of specialized burn care. Supported by a state-designated Level I Trauma Center, the multidisciplinary burn program brings together specialists who support patients across Middle Tennessee through treatment and recovery.

For Tim and Tiffany, the day was an opportunity to reconnect with and thank many of the people who played a role in their journey. 💙

🧸 Portland, you showed up in a BIG way! ❤️

More than 500 people joined us for our Teddy Bear ER Clinic today, and we had such a great time with you! The people, and especially the kids, are what make this community so special.

Our team loved walking kids through what a visit to the ER might look like, helping make healthcare a little less scary along the way. And, of course, we had some very important patients to care for! 🩺🧸 Our teddy bear medical team treated everything from tummy aches and broken bones to one particularly serious case of “too many hugs.” Thankfully, we’re happy to report a full recovery. 😉

Thank you to every family who spent part of their Saturday with us. We hope your kids left with happy memories, a little more confidence about what happens in the ER and, most importantly, a healthy teddy bear!

We’re also grateful to the organizations who joined us and helped make today so much fun: Portland Fire Department, Sumner County EMS, Sumner County Emergency Communications Center, VIP Children’s Clinic and The Pink Truck.

Bring the kids (and their sense of adventure!) for a fun, hands-on morning designed to help them feel more comfortable with the healthcare experience. Kids will take their new teddy bear through different steps of a visit, learning what to expect along the way in a friendly, not-so-scary environment.

And we’ve added even MORE fun! 🎈🎨

We’ll have a balloon artist, face painter plus Touch-a-Truck, featuring a HELICOPTER 🚁, fire truck 🚒 and ambulance 🚑!

We can’t wait to see our community, introduce your little ones to some of the people and tools that help keep them healthy, and send them home with a new teddy bear friend of their own. 🧸💙
