Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center is a residential treatment center for emotionally and behaviorally at-risk adolescent girls that helps them achieve a positive, healthy future. Our program combines a trauma-informed organizational framework, caring staff, careful medical treatment, individualized psychotherapy and education, and numerous activities, including our unique equestrian program. Equestrian Instructor Qualifications:

Must be at least 21 years old.

Must be able to pass a thorough background check, and obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Education: Prefer degree in education or related field.

🧡 Requires experience with youth and horses. Minimum of High School or GED required.

Experience: Extensive experience in all facets of horse care and training. Self-motivated and energetic.

Able to organize, work and plan with minimal supervision.

Serves as a role model for students in the care and treatment of animals.

Exhibits high ethical values and strong moral turpitude.

At MMYTC, our Arizona mountainside environment adds a powerful layer—nature, movement, and a calmer sensory load can help teens stay engaged and grounded while learning coping skills.

Recovery skills are easier to learn when the body feels safe. At Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center, our Arizona mountainside setting and Equine Therapy program support adolescent girls ages 12–17 as they work through trauma recovery and substance use recovery.
