🌿 MEDICARE TIP OF THE DAY: Did you know Medicare may cover acupuncture?

If you’re a Medicare patient living with chronic low back pain, acupuncture may be a covered benefit under Medicare Part B.

Here’s what you need to know:

✅ Medicare covers up to 12 acupuncture treatments within 90 days for qualifying chronic low back pain.

✅ If you’re showing improvement, Medicare may cover 8 additional treatments, for a maximum of 20 treatments in a 12-month period. (Medicare)

✅ The chronic low back pain generally must have lasted 12 weeks or longer and meet Medicare’s other coverage requirements. Acupuncture for conditions other than qualifying chronic low back pain is not covered under this Medicare benefit. (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services)

💡 How do you get started?

1️⃣ Talk with your healthcare provider. Ask whether acupuncture is appropriate for your condition and whether you meet Medicare’s coverage requirements.

2️⃣ Talk with the acupuncture provider before scheduling. Make sure they meet Medicare’s requirements and can properly bill Medicare for the covered service. Medicare cannot pay a licensed acupuncturist directly unless the service is furnished through a qualifying Medicare provider arrangement. (Medicare)

3️⃣ Confirm your coverage and potential costs. After your Part B deductible, you generally pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for covered acupuncture services. Your actual costs can vary depending on your coverage and provider. (Medicare)

Peptides and the FDA meeting July 2026 on Peptides that are off the Do Not Compound Category 2 list and up for Category 1 approval February 2027. The review in 2027 will be whether they will be approved to compound through 503A compounding pharmacies and what the specific uses and recommendations are for each peptide.
