🚨 RABIES ALERT 🚨
Lanesboro, MN

The Minnesota Department of Health has issued a notice that a bat found near Lanesboro Elementary School on August 5th, 2026 has tested positive for rabies.

If you, your child, or your pet had direct physical contact with this bat, please seek rabies risk assessment right away as recommended by the Minnesota Department of Health.

Bat bites can be very small and may go unnoticed, so any possible physical contact with a bat should be taken seriously. Rabies is a zoonotic disease, meaning it can spread between animals and humans. Once symptoms develop, rabies is almost always fatal.

Bats and skunks are the most common wild animals to test positive for rabies in Minnesota, but other wildlife and domestic animals can carry rabies and have tested positive as well.

🐾 Reminder for Pet Owners:
✔️ Make sure your pets are up to date on rabies vaccinations.
✔️ Keep pets away from wildlife and other animals that may carry rabies.
✔️ If your pet may have had contact with a bat, skunk, or other potentially rabid animal, contact your veterinarian and the Minnesota Department of Health promptly for guidance.

Please share this post with friends, family, and neighbors in the Lanesboro area so they are aware.

The Grass Vampires Are Out In Full Force! 🩸🐾
Are your pets protected?

Helpful tips to protect against ticks:
🛡️Use reliable tick-preventive products as recommended by your veterinarian.
💉 Have your veterinarian vaccinate your dog against Lyme disease.
🌿When possible, avoid tick-prone spots like tall grasses, marshes, or wooded areas and immediately check for ticks afterwards.
🍃Ticks love cool, moist, shady environments, make your yard and unfriedly place for them by regularly mowing grass, cleaning brush and debris, and store firewood in dry elevated areas.
🔍Perform daily tick checks of all pets in your home, especially when coming back inside.

Sometimes, the right dog just finds you. 🥹❤️🐾

Meet Skye, a sweet girl with a rough start to life.

This pup showed up at a home in Texas hungry, thin, and infected with parasites inside and out. When no owner could be found, the kind family took her in, cared for her, and brought her back with them to Minnesota.

Now, Skye is living her best life with a devoted family giving her all the tender loving care she deserves! We can't wait to watch this sweet girl's glow-up (and see if she will grow into those adorable long ears)🥰
