ls in recovery. As an RCO, Open United Recovery Place’s (OUR Place) message of empowerment has transformed the landscape of recovery in Portage County. OUR Place is dedicated to helping anyone impacted by addiction and mental illness achieve long term, sustained recovery. OUR Place does this through holistic programming, community outreach, and leadership. Our programs provide a space for mutual support, family support and education of multiple pathways to recovery. In addition to our programs, OUR Place hosts an array of safe drug and alcohol-free social events and activities that promote mental and physical health for individuals and families. Through community outreach, OUR Place works to eliminate many of the barriers that impede success toward achieving long term recovery for the people we serve. Our outreach efforts connect people to resources and provide drop-in support. Through all of our activities, OUR Place facilitates personal development through recovery advocacy, leadership opportunities, and peer mentorship which strengthen individual and community recovery.

O.U.R. Place is preparing our community memorial for International Overdose Awareness Day 2026: Nobody’s Story Should End Too Soon and we need your help reviewing it before everything is finalized.

If your loved one should be included, please check our memorial album to make sure:

• Their photograph is included
• Their name is spelled correctly
• We have the photograph you want displayed

This listening session is an opportunity for people in recovery, family members, allies, and community stakeholders to share their experiences, concerns, ideas, and hopes for recovery in Ohio. Your feedback helps inform advocacy efforts and ensure that recovery voices are heard.
Due to a recent staffing transition and some communication challenges, information about today's event may not have reached everyone as intended. If this is the first you're hearing about it, you're not alone!
The session will be facilitated by John Nimmo, who brings extensive experience in the recovery community and is helping ensure that community voices are heard.

We need a quick community check-in!

The OCAAR Town Hall Listening Session at O.U.R. Place IS currently scheduled for TOMORROW, Tuesday, June 16 from 5:30–6:30 PM.

However, there appears to be some confusion because OCAAR’s website is still showing the original event as “Postponed” and some people who registered for the original date may not have received updated information.

We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family, friends, and colleagues of the Honorable Judge Mark Fankhauser, who passed away today.

Judge Fankhauser consistently showed respect for individuals working toward recovery and recognized the importance of both accountability and opportunity. His fairness, compassion, and support for second chances made a meaningful and lasting impact on many people in our community.

He will be remembered with gratitude and greatly missed.
