Breaking News! ADAO Applauds Senate’s Historic Bipartisan Reintroduction of the Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act of 2026

Senator John Curtis (R-UT) has joined Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) to reintroduce the Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act.
Senator Curtis is the first Senate Republican to cosponsor legislation to fully ban asbestos in the United States.

If enacted, ARBAN would permanently ban the import and use of all six regulated asbestos fibers plus Libby Amphibole Asbestos, providing stronger and more comprehensive protections than the EPA's 2024 chrysotile asbestos rule.

For decades, ADAO has advocated for a complete asbestos ban because there is no safe level of asbestos exposure.
Together, prevention remains the only cure.
