This position provides administrative support across multiple departments, helping coordinate meetings and events, manage records and communications, and keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.

This is a part-time, office-based position located in Richmond, Virginia. The expected schedule is approximately 20 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, with work performed primarily onsite. Applicants should be local to the area.

How far do Virginians travel to give birth? 🚗

Today, VHI launched the Distance to Delivery Dashboard, a new interactive resource that examines estimated travel distance and travel time for hospital births across the Commonwealth.

💡Developed in partnership with the Human Services Research Institute, this dashboard draws from Virginia Hospital Discharge Data (Patient Level Data) to help users explore how access to childbirth services varies by geography, insurance type, delivery type, maternal demographics, selected maternal health indicators and hospital characteristics.

Today, we remember and honor Michael T. Lundberg, whose leadership shaped VHI from its very beginning.

As VHI's founding Executive Director and later CEO, Michael spent nearly three decades building an organization rooted in integrity, collaboration and service. Through his vision, leadership and unwavering commitment to improving healthcare with trusted, transparent health information, he laid the foundation for the work VHI continues to do today.

Michael was a steady hand in shaping the direction of the organization. At a time when collaboration across Virginia's healthcare community was not always easy, he opened doors, built lasting relationships and earned the trust of hospitals, policymakers, health plans and other close partners. His leadership established VHI as a respected, neutral convener, bringing people together around a shared goal of improving healthcare for Virginians.

Those who had the privilege of working alongside Michael remember not only his leadership but also his generosity, humility and genuine commitment to the people and mission of VHI. While many of us know Michael through the legacy he left behind, countless others were fortunate to know him as a colleague, mentor and friend. We are deeply grateful for the foundation he created and for the example Michael set.

Our thoughts are with Michael's family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His contributions to VHI, to healthcare in Virginia and to the countless lives touched by his work will continue to be felt for generations to come.

One way VHI's Emergency Department Care Coordination ( ) program supports is through partnership with the Healthcare-Associated Infections & Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) program at the Virginia Department of Health.

💡The Multidrug Resistant Organism ( ) flag was introduced to help bridge the gap in facility communication.

These flags notify facilities when a patient with a history of MDRO status is admitted, ensuring infection control precautions are implemented as early as possible to reduce risk of transmission. MDRO flags confirm cases of Carbapenemase-producing organisms (CPO) and Candida auris and populate alerts in the EDCC portal and on EDIE reports for all particpating hospitals in Virginia.

🔎From 2025 into 2026, more than 3,700 encounters involving patients with an MDRO flag have occurred across engaged facilities statewide, while 46 hospitals have enabled targeted, real-time alerting by identifying specific individuals or teams to be notified when a flagged patient arrives at their facility.
