It is with great sadness that we share the passing of two Allina Health EMS members over the past week.
Active duty EMT Tim Sprandel passed away as he was fighting cancer. Tim served 27 years, starting in our Basic Life Support department before serving in the North Metro for the majority of his career.

We were also informed that retired paramedic Larry Williams passed away. Larry served for 29 years in the North Metro and Wright County regions. Larry also served 34 years in the U.S. Army & Army Reserves.
Our condolences go out to their family, friends and colleagues, and we thank them for their service to Allina Health EMS and their communities.

As we close out EMS Week, today is about remembrance. We take a pause to remember and honor those who have died in the line of duty.
EMS in general, continues working to create permanent memorials, nationally through the National EMS Memorial and locally, through the MN State EMS LODD Memorial Foundation.
The National EMS Memorial Service holds a service in July and National EMS Memorial Bike Ride honors fallen EMS clinicians through various ride routes across the U.S.

Happy EMS Week! Recognition Day is the theme for Friday. We are beyond grateful for the 700+ team members that make up Allina Health EMS. We have mechanics, administrative assistants, dispatchers, call-takers, QA/QI for dispatch & clinicians, CAD & GIS professionals, inventory techs, supply chain, AED outreach, educators, leaders, special transportation drivers, EMTs, and paramedics that make us ready to respond each day. Here are some snapshots from the past year- length of service recognition and a couple of retirements.

They create some of the greatest joys and can be the most challenging calls we face.
Wednesday of EMS Week highlights caring for children, the education needed and the education we can provide during Safety Camps, Open Houses, Daycare visits and other opportunities to help alleviate fears before the ambulance ride.
