🌿 After the Health & Happiness Retreat, I Finally Stopped Waking Up Frequently at Night
I attended the Bodhi Meditation Health & Happiness Retreat this May. I originally joined with a simple “let’s give it a try” attitude, but within just a few days, I experienced several positive changes that truly surprised me.
One of the issues that bothered me most before the retreat was frequent trips to the restroom.
During the first couple of days, I had to leave the classroom almost every hour. I even felt a little embarrassed because I was constantly getting up and walking in and out.
As I continued practicing the Meditation of Greater Illumination, I gradually noticed improvements.
Previously, I needed to use the restroom several times each morning. Later, I only needed to go once during the entire morning. At night, I used to wake up at least twice, sometimes even more. By the end of the retreat, it had decreased to once a night, and there was even one night when I slept through without getting up at all.
In addition, I noticed improvements in my flexibility and comfort while sitting.
When I first arrived, I needed two cushions just to sit comfortably for an extended period of time. By the end of the retreat, one cushion was enough, and sitting felt much easier and more comfortable.
Another change was my sense of stability.
Previously, I often worried about losing my balance, especially when standing up or moving around. I was afraid of falling.
After several days of practice, however, my legs felt stronger and my body felt steadier. I no longer had the same fear of losing balance.
The most memorable improvement for me was climbing stairs.
Before the retreat, my legs often felt sore and weak, so I had to be very careful and move slowly whenever I went up or down stairs.
One day after class, I walked all the way to the train station and was surprised by how light my legs felt. As I climbed the stairs, it almost felt as though my body had become lighter. That experience made me incredibly happy.
I also noticed changes in a persistent cough that I had been dealing with.
At the beginning of the retreat, I coughed quite frequently. As the days went on, the coughing gradually decreased. I felt more comfortable physically and had noticeably more energy.
The benefits I gained from this retreat far exceeded my expectations.
The physical improvements were encouraging, but even more importantly, I felt lighter, more energetic, and emotionally brighter. My overall sense of well-being improved significantly.
