Happy Summer Solstice! ☀️😅

It’s not just vibes. Sunlight genuinely affects mood and energy.

🌞 Morning light helps regulate your circadian rhythm, which supports healthier sleep-wake cycles and more balanced cortisol patterns throughout the day.
🧠 Bright light exposure is also linked to serotonin activity and improved mood, which is why light therapy can help some people with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
☀️ Plus, sunlight helps our skin produce vitamin D, which researchers have also explored in relation to mood and mental health.

None of this means medication like Zoloft isn’t important or life-changing for many people. But humans are still surprisingly plant-like sometimes. Water, sleep, movement, sunlight… suddenly we can answer emails again. 🌿💛

❤️‍🩹 Self-compassion phrases are like little reminders of kindness we offer ourselves when we need a moment of support or comfort. When you're feeling emotional pain or discomfort, pause and gently ask yourself, "What words do I need to hear right now, spoken just for me?" 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩

Principle 6: Discover the Satisfaction Factor

Savor the First Few Bites 😋🕰️
Those initial bites pack the biggest flavor punch. Slow down, breathe, and let the taste linger. By fully enjoying the beginning of the meal, you’re more likely to notice when pleasure naturally starts to taper off—so you can finish feeling content, not stuffed.

🧠 Cognitive Distortions: What They Are and How They Mess With Your Head 😵‍💫

We all have those sneaky, distorted thoughts that twist reality and feed into negative patterns. Cognitive distortions are basically thought traps—mental shortcuts that don’t tell the full story.

Fun fact: emotional tears are actually chemically different from the tears you make chopping onions or getting dust in your eye. Researchers have found that emotional tears can contain different levels of stress hormones, proteins, and natural pain-relieving chemicals.

😢 Sad tears
😡 Frustration tears
🥹 Relief tears
😂 Laughing-so-hard-you-cry tears

Your body really said: ‘we’re going to process feelings biologically.’
Much more practical than spontaneous combustion… but honestly, we understand the sentiment.

Principle 6: Discover the Satisfaction Factor

Engage All Five Senses 👀👃🎶
Plate your meal so it looks appealing, notice its aroma, and listen to any satisfying sizzles or crunches. As you take a bite, focus on flavor and texture. The more senses you invite to the table, the more fulfilling each mouthful becomes.

Recipes: ‘Add ¼ cup cilantro.’
Grocery store: ‘Best I can do is an entire cilantro ecosystem.’ 🌿😂

The good news? Extra cilantro is surprisingly versatile:
🌮 Tacos, burritos, and nachos
🍜 Pho, ramen, and curry
🥗 Salads and grain bowls
🫙 Chimichurri, pesto, or zhoug
🍳 Eggs, rice, roasted veggies
🧊 Blend with olive oil and freeze in cubes for future you

And if you want it to last longer, treat it like fresh flowers:
✂️ Snip the ends
💧 Put it in a jar with a little water
🧊 Store in the fridge loosely covered with a bag

Congratulations, you are now the caretaker of a cilantro bouquet. 💐🌿
