Diets teach you to go without.

Without the foods you love, without pleasure, without flexibility - and that’s exactly why they can feel so hard to sustain.

A fasting lifestyle is different.

When you pair intentional periods without food with deeply nourishing meals, you’re not just eating less - you’re teaching your metabolism how to become flexible again, moving more efficiently between burning glucose for fuel and tapping into stored fat when glucose is less available.

And here’s the beautiful part: instead of white-knuckling your way through another restrictive diet, these rhythms can actually become easier with practice as your body adapts.

The goal isn’t to fear food or remove everything that brings you joy; it’s to build a lifestyle where you can nourish your body, enjoy your food, and give your metabolism the opportunity to use both of its fuel-burning systems the way it was designed to.

Food is one of the great pleasures and connectors of being human, so why would we remove all the joy from it in the name of health?

Healthy eating can be colorful, flavorful, abundant, creative, and deeply satisfying. That enjoyment factor matters.

When you stop asking, “What am I allowed to eat?” and start asking, “How can I nourish my body in a way that also brings me pleasure?” you begin building a relationship with food that you can actually sustain 🙏

When I built my practice, I had the incredible privilege of sitting across from women every day, listening to their stories, seeing their struggles, and helping them understand their bodies in a completely new way.

But eventually I realized there were millions of women I would never be able to reach one-on-one, and YouTube became my way of meeting women wherever they were in the world with the information I wished more of us had been given.

As I started teaching the principles of fasting through a female-first lens, something beautiful happened: the community started teaching me too.

Your questions, your frustrations, the places you were getting stuck, and the results you were experiencing showed me what women actually needed to hear - not what I assumed they needed.

That ongoing conversation has shaped so much of the language, education, tools, and resources I create today.

This work has never just been me teaching women how their bodies work; it has been women showing me how they need to be taught 🙌

I want you to think about how many opportunities you get every single day to show yourself that you’re on your own team.

It’s in the way you speak to yourself when you look in the mirror, the boundaries you hold, the food you choose, the rest you allow, the people you surround yourself with, and whether you honor that little voice telling you what you need. You don’t have to completely reinvent your life overnight.

Start with one decision today that says, “I’m in my corner.” Then make another tomorrow. Imagine the woman you become when you spend a year consistently choosing her 💙

One of the things I loved most about my conversation with Chef Nyesha Arrington was being reminded that food was never meant to be reduced to calories, macros, or something we simply put into our bodies to get an outcome.

Food is a bridge between time and people.

It carries our stories, our cultures, our memories, our families, and sometimes even the people who are no longer sitting at the table with us.

A single meal can communicate love, belonging, celebration, comfort, and connection without anyone saying a word. When we reduce food to this transactional equation of input versus output, we miss so much of what makes eating deeply human.

Yes, food nourishes our biology but it can nourish our relationships, our joy, and our sense of connection too 🙏

One of the best things you can do is make your meals work harder for your metabolism is to get enough fiber on your plate.

Fiber helps slow digestion, and certain types can help you feel fuller and more satisfied after you eat, which means you’re not constantly battling hunger an hour later.

It can also slow the absorption of carbohydrates, helping create a steadier blood-sugar response instead of that rapid spike-and-crash cycle that sends you searching for your next hit of energy.

And here’s the bigger lesson: carbohydrates aren’t automatically the problem. The form they come in matters.

A fiber-rich whole-food carbohydrate behaves very differently in your body than a highly refined one 🙌

We’ve all heard health advice that made us stop and think, Wait… people actually believe this?!

Maybe you were told eating fat makes you fat, women shouldn’t lift weights, you need to survive on cabbage if you want to lose weight, or that one bizarre “miracle” food was going to solve everything but cost HUNDREDS of dollars.

I want to hear the wildest, most outdated, completely out-there health advice you’ve ever been given.

Let’s have some fun with this one 😂 drop yours below, and then scroll through the comments to see if anyone can beat it 👇

One of the things I loved about my conversation with Dr. Jason Fung was that we took metabolic health beyond the usual conversation about what you eat and when you eat.

Because weight loss doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

It’s happening inside a life filled with relationships, stress, emotions, cultural expectations, celebrations, shame, and years of messages about what our bodies are “supposed” to look like.

When we acknowledge those mental, emotional, and social layers, we start dismantling this idea that someone’s weight is simply a reflection of their discipline or willpower.

Metabolic health is so much more human than that.

And I believe changing that conversation allows us to replace judgment with curiosity and create strategies that actually honor the whole person, not just the number on the scale 🙌

08/31/2026

We’ve made weight loss so much more complicated than it needs to be and the moment we hit a plateau, we assume we need another diet, more restriction, or a completely new strategy.

But sometimes the answer is simply to come back to your metabolic switch: are you giving your body opportunities to move between burning sugar and burning fat?

Then reconnect with the food on your plate.

Notice what keeps your blood sugar steady, what leaves you satisfied, what gives you energy, and what actually works for YOUF body.

Before you add another complicated rule, come back to the basics: switch fuels, eat real food, and start listening to what your metabolism is telling you 💙
