What is EFP? Equine facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) is a form of psychotherapy involving the collaborative effort of a client and a horse with a licensed psychotherapist/credentialed equine professional. EFP partners horses and humans in activities which promote healing issues of trust, bonding, communication, and boundaries. M

utually respectful activities such as riding, grooming, handling, and lunging engage the partners in a healing relationship that leads the client towards personal insight and lasting change. Treatment Philosophy

As a therapist, my job is to promote emotional healing. Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy is a highly effective treatment due to a horse's inherent nature, inner strength, and profound ability to connect. Judy Weston-Thompson: MFT, CEIP-MH

Having experienced my own healing bond with horses, combined with my love of doing psychotherapy, it seemed natural to combine the two. I studied the field of EFP and all its components, including the nature of horses and their exquisite power to heal. My goal as a psychotherapist is to continue offering an equine therapeutic practice that allows people of all ages and issues to embrace this profound experience. I invite you to share my passion in this journey of connecting to our higher selves. For horses can educate through first hand, subjective, personal experiences, unlike human tutors, teachers, and professors can ever do. Horses can build character, not merely urge one to improve on it. Horses forge the mind, the character, the emotions and inner lives of humans. People can talk to one another about all these things and remain distanced and lonesome. In partnership with a horse, one is seldom lacking for thought, emotion and inspiration. Charles de Kunffy

Courage, wisdom born of insight and humility, empathy born of compassion and love, all can be bequeathed by a horse to his rider. Charles de Kunffy

An instinct sympathy which makes the horse the master of one heart, one pulse, one understanding love-is never made, but born. George Chamberlain

Received an absolutely beautiful message from the lovely Orly P. yesterday.

"✨️Mid Horse Year Check In✨️

“Acknowledge the Wave but Stay with the Ocean.”

I encountered this phrase reading a book lent to me by a dear friend. It has been reverberating ever since.

The waves are inevitable- we know this. But how do we navigate them when they linger and overwhelm?

We stay present with the bigger picture, maintain our gaze on the horizon, and remember our intention set at the start of Horse Year.

Recently, I've had the opportunity to begin a connection with a beautiful horse. Souly is majestic, grand, and very much attuned. Through our interactions, I am learning so much about staying present with what is, acknowledging without absorbing, taking space to listen, and re-connecting with enhanced clarity.

Our capacity to learn ourselves doesn't stop. And neither does discomfort. Discomfort is a tool and a mirror asking us to lean in. This gift teaches us where to firm up our boundaries and when to soften. How to receive and what we offer in reciprocity.

This is the dance within healthy relationship- first with Self and then extending outward to others.🤍

Sometimes our best teacher is found in the most unexpected places. Through his soulful gaze and ability to mirror without harm, Souly reminds me that one of the biggest gifts you can generate for yourself is acknowledgment, acceptance, and the commitment to be seen through the discomfort.

There are jewels to be discovered on the other side.

With love,
Orly

P.S.- find some time to put your feet in the ocean this week🌊"

Thank you so much Orly! You are very appreciated ❤️
