Remember that cardboard truck video we were talking about a couple weeks ago? Well, we got the link, and we are SO EXCITED to share it with you!

In 2025, Innovia Foundation awarded PSNI $20,000 through the Bonner Boundary Forever Fund. Along with funding from additional supporters, that grant helped us purchase our third cardboard truck!

Innovia came to PSNI a few weeks ago to film our cardboard crew in action, and share our story in a video shown at their Annual Reception. They recognized PSNI as a recipient of these funds and highlighted how those donor dollars are making a real difference at PSNI.

Behind every cardboard pickup are PSNI participants doing meaningful work, building skills, and providing a service local businesses count on. That work is made possible, in part, by a community of funders who believe in what our participants can accomplish.

A huge thank you to Innovia Foundation for supporting our work, coming out to tell our story, and sharing it with their audience. We’re excited to finally share it with ours!

33+ tubs of Christmas. Two trees. A fireplace. A life-size Santa. And we’re just getting started.

Four PSNI ladies and one staff member have officially kicked off Christmas Market setup, and let’s just say… we have a LOT of Christmas to unpack.

Give us a bit more time, and the Greenhouse will transform into a Christmas wonderland for more than 60 vendors to fill with their holiday goodies.

And if you think this is a lot of Christmas, just wait until you see it finished!

Our annual PSNI Christmas Market will be open November 30 - December 20!

For families of young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, high school graduation can bring an important question: What comes next?

Once school-based services end, families may find themselves looking for opportunities for their adult children to continue learning, develop practical life skills, explore employment, build relationships, and participate in their communities. They may also be wondering how to balance their loved one's support needs with the demands of work, family, and everyday life. Panhandle Special Needs, Inc. (PSNI) could be that answer.

Panhandle Special Needs, Inc., based in Sandpoint, has been providing services to adults with developmental disabilities since 1975. Today, the organization serves more than 200 people annually through individualized life skills training, employment services, Adult Day Health, and other programs. Approximately 20 participants come from Bonners Ferry and the surrounding Boundary County area via Medicaid-reimbursed transportation providers. We go to the library for peace, for solitude, for information or fun. But for our participants, a trip to the library can be so much more than finding a quiet place to work, a good book, movie or music.

Participants are learning how to check out and return library items more independently, while also building the skills they need to navigate their community safely and confidently.

From learning the library's schedule and routines to figuring out how to access the resources available to them, these are skills they can carry with them long after this visit.

Because independence isn't just about what you can do at home or at work. It's also about being able to get out into your community and make the most of what's there.
