Happy PRIDE to everyone!!!
✨💖❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🩶🤍🤎

The Roots of Pride

Pride began as a protest. In the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn — a Greenwich Village bar that served as a sanctuary for gay, le***an, bisexual, and transgender New Yorkers, many of them people of color and working class. What followed was something unexpected: the community fought back. At the heart of that resistance were people like Marsha P. Johnson, a Black transgender woman and street activist, and Sylvia Rivera, a Latina transgender woman — both of whom became icons of the uprising and tireless advocates for those most marginalized within the LGBTQ+ community. Those nights of resistance sparked a movement, and within a year, the first pride marches were held in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago — not as celebrations, but as declarations of dignity and the right to exist without fear.

Over the decades, pride has evolved into something larger and more layered — part protest, part mourning, part joy, part homecoming. It carries the grief of lives lost to violence and the AIDS crisis, the resilience of chosen families, and the ongoing work of communities still fighting for full belonging. At its heart, pride holds what healers and community builders know well: that visibility is medicine, that being witnessed transforms us, and that liberation is always a collective endeavor.

May was full. 🌿

This past month held more than I can easily put into words — and yet, here I am, trying.

I spent time in deep grief tending, moving through the anniversaries of both of my parents’ deaths — my mother on May 2nd, my father on May 22nd. These dates carry weight. They carry love. And this year, I was graced with the privilege of attending births on both of those days.

Life, meeting grief, at the threshold. There is no reframe more powerful than that.

In between those tender moments, I immersed myself in an Ayurvedic Doula training — expanding my already full-spectrum doula practice with new modalities I am so excited to bring to my clients:

🌸 Self womb massage
🌸 Abhyanga (Ayurvedic postnatal bodywork)
🌸 Abdominal womb massage
🌸 Marma therapy (Ayurvedic pressure points)
🌸 Womb Basties
🌸 Pinda Sweda (Herbal Poultices)
🌸 Herbal poultices
🌸 Yoni pelvic steaming

Deep Gratitude to Katia of .ayurveda

This is what full-spectrum doula work means to me — walking with clients from fertility, conception, and pregnancy, through labor, birth, and deep into the postpartum. Every phase of this journey matters.

And in my hypnobirthing work, I continue to be moved watching clients learn and master self-hypnosis, visualization, and meditation — dropping into the natural birthing zone that is already within them, waiting to be found. Navigating this journey with confidence and ease.

I am a doula because birth and death are not opposites. They are the same sacred doorway, approached from different directions.

Grateful to do this work. Grateful to keep growing. 🌀
