Today is International ShakeOut Day. Visit shakeout.org/california/dropcoverholdon to learn what to do—and what not to do—during an earthquake. Federal, state, and local emergency management experts and other official preparedness organizations all agree that "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" is the appropriate action to reduce injury and death during earthquakes, and there are alternative protective actions for people with mobility disabilities. On ShakeOut Day, we are reminded that practice helps us be ready to respond.

Check out earthquakecountry.org/sevensteps for a step-by-step guide for staying safe before, during, and after an earthquake.
