Why does a SPRAVATO® appointment take longer than the treatment itself?

After SPRAVATO® is administered, patients are monitored for at least two hours. This observation period is part of the SPRAVATO® REMS safety requirements and allows your care team to monitor you for known risks and make sure you’re ready to leave safely.

It’s also important to plan for more than two hours at the clinic. Your full appointment may include check-in, assessment, administration, the required observation period, and discharge planning.

SPRAVATO® is an FDA-approved treatment option for certain adults with treatment-resistant depression, and we’re preparing to accept eligible in-network patients with Regence and Cigna.
