Did you know that nearly 18% of surveyed Cumberland County students reported worrying about running out of food during the past year?

Food insecurity isn't always visible. Many children experiencing hunger attend school every day, participate in activities, and appear to be doing fine.

National research shows that school meals are one of the most effective tools for reducing child hunger and supporting student success.

That's why programs like Universal School Meals and the School Breakfast Program matter. When nutritious meals are available at school, students are more likely to start the day nourished and ready to learn.

As the so-called Make America Healthy Again movement adds fuel to the national debate on what makes food healthy or not, advocates face a defining question: What does it really take to make America healthy? Beyond debates over ingredients and personal choice, real progress requires confronting hunger, inequitable food access, and a food system that too often undermines healthβ€”especially for communities with the fewest resources.

This timely webinar brings together leading voices in anti-hunger advocacy, public health, and food and nutrition policy to examine historical divides β€”and shared goalsβ€” between these movements and why collaboration is essential now to protect food assistance, improve nutrition, and build a healthy and just food system.
