Goldenrod is great for seasonal allergies. Itโ€™s one of the main ingredients in our Hazy Day Allergy Relief. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Did you know your fingernails can tell on you?

In TCM training, nail analysis was also one of the first diagnostic skills we learn. The color, texture, ridges, and even the shape of your nail bed can point to what is going on inside your body.

A few examples:
๐Ÿ’…๐Ÿป White spots are often blamed on calcium or zinc levels, though in TCM we also look at them alongside digestion and mineral absorption.
๐Ÿ’…๐Ÿป Vertical ridges tend to show up more as we age and can reflect nutrient absorption and hydration.
๐Ÿ’…๐ŸปPale nail beds can point to blood deficiency, basically your body asking for more iron rich or blood building foods.
๐Ÿ’…๐ŸปBrittle, peeling nails often trace back to dry conditions internally, think dehydration or thin blood in TCM terms.

Your nails grow slowly, so what you see today is really a few months of your body's story showing up in keratin. Wild, right?

Next time you are doing your nails, take a second to actually look at them first. They might be trying to tell you something. ๐ŸŒฟ

Your eyes are doing more than just seeing the world, they might be showing the world what is going on inside you.

๐ˆ๐ซ๐ข๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ ๐ฒ is the practice of reading the iris, the colored part of your eye, to look for patterns, fibers, and markings that some practitioners believe correspond to different areas of the body. It is not something I rely on alone, but it is a fascinating piece of the bigger picture when I am getting to know a client.

Some things practitioners look at:
๐Ÿ‘๏ธ The density and pattern of the fibers in the iris
๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Darker spots or flecks called pigment markings
๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Rings or discoloration around the outer edge of the iris
๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Changes in color or clarity over time

Think of it less like a diagnosis and more like a conversation starter. It gives us something to dig into together, alongside how you are sleeping, eating, and feeling day to day.

Your body has been trying to talk to you this whole time. Sometimes it just helps to know where to look. ๐ŸŒฟ

Can we talk about face lines for a second?

My herbal training is based in the foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine. One of the first things we learn is facial diagnosis, reading the lines, color, and texture of a face to understand what is happening inside the body. Every line has a story. The ones between your eyebrows can point to liver stress. The horizontal lines on your forehead can reflect how your digestion is doing. The lines around your eyes often show how your kidneys and adrenals are holding up.

It is kind of wild to me that we spend so much time and money trying to erase these lines when they are actually just your body talking to you. That crease is not a flaw. It is a message.

Next time you catch a new line in the mirror, try getting curious instead of critical. Ask what it might be telling you. Are you stressed? Dehydrated? Not sleeping enough? Sometimes the answer is simpler than a $600 syringe.

This is part of why I love herbalism so much. It teaches you to listen to your body instead of just silencing what it is trying to say. ๐Ÿ–ค

I used to think of health the way most of us are taught to, something you deal with when it breaks. A cold hits, you reach for medicine. Exhaustion sets in, you push through anyway. Reactive by design, wait for the symptom, then respond.

Herbalism taught me a different rhythm, especially when it comes to immunity.

The plants that matter most in my apothecary arenโ€™t the ones you reach for once youโ€™re already sick. Theyโ€™re the ones woven into daily life long before that, the nettle tea steeped each morning, the elderberry taken through cold season, the tonic sipped not because somethingโ€™s wrong, but because youโ€™d like to keep it that way.

An immune system thatโ€™s had consistent nutrients, sleep, and gentle herbal support doesnโ€™t have to work as hard when something finally does come around. The groundwork you lay quietly, on ordinary days, is what shows up for you when everyone around you is getting sick.

Itโ€™s slower work, and harder to notice because the payoff is an absence, the cold you didnโ€™t catch, the season you moved through without missing a beat. But thatโ€™s exactly why itโ€™s worth doing.

Thatโ€™s what we build toward at MoonFarma. ๐ŸŒ™๐ŸŒฑ

Late summer has a way of showing up uninvited. The goldenrod blooms, the ragweed drifts in the wind, and suddenly half the office is reaching for tissues instead of their morning coffee.

Thatโ€™s exactly the call I got this week. A local business owner, watching their team sneeze and sniffle their way through the last stretch of summer, reached out with a simple ask, can you help?

So I got to work.

Pulling from the apothecary shelf, I put together a custom allergy kit: something rooted in plant wisdom, made to soothe, calm the congestion, and get people back to feeling like themselves. The kind of support that comes from working with the earth instead of against it.

By the time it landed in their hands, it wasnโ€™t just a kit. It was a small act of care, one business owner looking out for their people, and MoonFarma showing up to help make that possible.

Thatโ€™s the work I love most. ๐Ÿ–ค
