Working Wednesday: Meet Tristan!

​Today we are highlighting Tristan, who works as an office cleaner at Mitten Mortgage Lending. He has been keeping their space clean since 2020. He even made the transition with the team when Mitten Mortgage moved into their new building.

​Tristan enjoys having a steady job and earning a paycheck. His employer, Chris, shared that hiring Tristan through Arkay was the easiest choice he had to make because he knew he would get a dependable worker who was supported by Arkay Incorporated.

​As we celebrate Disability Employment Awareness Month this October, Tristan's six years of consistent, reliable work shows the impact of local workplace partnerships.

Staff Spotlight: Don I

​Don joined Arkay Incorporated as a Job Coach this past July, but his connection to Arkay goes back much further. His brother attended Arkay programs for many years and worked with our Employment Services team to secure a position at The Henry Ford.

​Before coming to Arkay, Don supported local students through custodial skills programs with Roosevelt High School and the Wyandotte Public Schools Jo Brighton Skills Center.

Today, Don’s journey comes full circle as he works with Employment Services to guide participants in building cleaning roles.

His uplifting, positive attitude brings out the best in everyone he meets, giving participants the confidence to master new tasks and take pride in their work.
Don shares that he truly enjoys helping others gain the skills to earn a living.

What's So Great About Writing Poetry?

Writing a poem builds more skills than you'd think! It takes focus, creativity, and fine motor skills to put thoughts onto paper. It's also a great way to practice self-expression.

Kelly recently wrote a poem about blessings with help from her Skill Building Specialist. She lit up sharing it with everyone!
We love seeing how much Kelly enjoys her time at Arkay.

Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and their families through advocacy, skill development, and work opportunities.​

We work with community employers to create real work opportunities and offer services that support both individuals with disabilities and their caregivers.​

All Arkay Incorporated programs are working towards the same mission.This is one of our first videos. It was submitted as part of a grant application.
