Taser is a great tool but not a magic wand. You must have a good probe deployment and lethal cover when dealing with edged weapons. OC is not a good option for edged weapons due to the deployment range limitations.

The research is clear, there is little to no downside to keeping the muzzle just off of the target until the decision is made to fire. There is lots of evidence that pointing a gun at a target before the decision to shoot can lead to catastrophic mistake of fact shootings.
