One Year of Ultrascreen!! 🫀

This month marks one year since Ultrascreen officially made its debut to the public.

Over the past year, we have had the privilege of meeting incredible families, working with dedicated community members, and most importantly, helping local children gain access to cardiac screenings that may identify heart conditions before they become life-threatening. Every child we have screened, every family we have met, and every conversation we have had has reinforced why we started this mission.

As many of you know, our goal has always been simple and transparent: bring accessible cardiac screening services to local youth and help bridge the gap between what insurance covers and what families need. We believe every child deserves access to preventative cardiac care, regardless of financial barriers and family history.

While we are proud of what we have accomplished so far, this first year has not been without major challenges. One of the most difficult obstacles we continue to face is gaining access to local schools. Despite countless outreach efforts throughout Champaign and Clark County as well as many surrounding communities, we have received very limited, if any, responses from schools. Whether our information is not reaching the right people or the importance of preventative cardiac screening is not yet fully understood, the result is the same, many students who could benefit from these services are never given the opportunity to learn about them.

Parents have been incredibly supportive of our efforts, and for that we are deeply grateful. However, for our mission to continue growing and reach the children who need it most, we need stronger partnerships with our local schools.

We are also excited to share that we are currently in the process of creating a nonprofit entity. This next step will help us expand access, reduce financial barriers for families, and continue our mission. To everyone who has supported us during this first year, whether by scheduling a screening, sharing a post, volunteering your time, or simply encouraging us, thank you. Your support has kept us moving forward.

We are excited for what the future holds, but we cannot do it alone. If you believe in the importance of Ultrascreen, we encourage you to help us start conversations within your schools, athletic programs, and communities. Together, we can ensure more children have access to the preventative care they deserve.

Thank you for an amazing first year. Here's to continuing the mission and protecting our youth. If Ultrascreen has touched the life of someone you love, drop a comment below. We 🤍 you all!

Two thumbs up because we will be at Northwestern on Saturday June 13th!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

A reminder of who we are and what we do 🫀

We’re two moms who started this journey because we wanted to do for others what we would do for our own kids while bringing awareness to cardiac health and sudden cardiac arrest in our youth.

We’ll be at Northwestern local schools’ sports physicals next Saturday, June 13th, from 8–11 AM. Use the link below to book your time-slot, we only have a limited amount left:

https://consumer.scheduling.athena.io/?locationId=34091-1

We’re also booking our schedule for back-to-school season this fall and are always looking for schools, organizations, and community partners interested in hosting clinics.
If you have ideas or would like to partner with us, we’d love to hear from you!

This Memorial Day we give extra thanks to the brave men and women who gave everything for our country and our freedom. We are deeply grateful for the sacrifices made by so many families and we honor those heroes today and every day.

As we take today to reflect on what matters most family, community, and the opportunity to serve others we are incredibly excited for what’s ahead at Ultrascreen.

Starting next week, emails will begin rolling out to schools across Clark County, Logan County, Champaign County, Madison County, Montgomery County, Greene County, and other surrounding areas as we open more available dates for the upcoming school year!

We are excited to continue growing and serving more students, families, and communities. Every school added means more opportunities to detect hidden heart conditions early and help keep young athletes safe.

The support from our communities continues to amaze us, and we cannot wait for an incredible year ahead. ❤️🤍💙

An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a portable machine used during a cardiac emergency when the heart suddenly stops beating correctly. In simple terms, it acts like an emergency “reset button” for the heart. The AED checks the heart’s rhythm and, if needed, gives an electric shock to help the heart return to a normal beat.
These devices are designed for everyday people to use, not just medical professionals! They provide simple step-by-step voice instructions during an emergency while waiting for emergency responders to arrive.
We encourage everyone to take a moment to locate them wherever you spend time, like the park, sports facility, or gym! Educate your kids and yourself about them. In a dream world everyone would know how to use them and together we could reduce death by cardiac arrest. 🫀

Today’s teens are consuming more caffeine than ever before.

Many popular drinks marketed to teens contain high levels of caffeine that may affect the heart, especially those with an undiagnosed cardiac condition. Some heart conditions may not show symptoms until triggered by stimulants or caffeine; these teens can appear completely healthy while having an underlying structural or electrical condition.

Identifying potential heart abnormalities before a serious event occurs is why we are here. As cardiac professionals and parents, our mission is simple. Preventative screenings cost far less than emergency care and could save your child’s life! Keep an eye out for more events we will be doing, and more importantly, keep an eye on what your children are consuming. 🫀
