We were so lucky to join the Missouri Mycological Society this morning for a foray at the new St. Louis Zoo WildCare Park and it did not disappoint! They were so welcoming and accommodating to me and my young daughter. We found so many different kinds and learned so much. We will definitely be signing up to become a member and joining more of these! This is just what we found! Nothing more magical than a mommy daughter morning in the forest looking for mushrooms!

Harvesting lemon balm this morning! I will be bringing some of this with me to Pagan Picnic Tower Grove Park for a little candle magick on Saturday June 6th at the Temple of Witchcraft booth!

Just harvesting this brings me so much joy. The smell, the freshness! This herb has been a major ally for me with its uplifting qualities. So good for emotional healing!

Next up, time to imbue them with the energies of each symbol! I etched them with a dremel and created the ink by combining liquid of crushed and boiled oak galls, ferris sulfate, and gum Arabic. I would share my recipe but it came out very watery. Need to experiment more to find the right consistency.

I used the symbols the Temple of Witchcraft use, which is a 29 symbol system. And decided on oak gall ink because of the wisdom oaks have provided me with over the years. Plus it's a great kids craft that involves a scavenger hunt for "ice cream" that my 3 year old pretends they are.

Preparing to make a set of witch's runes! I ordered these buffalo bone disks that were pure white. Last night I simmered witch hazel, red raspberry leaf and Yarrow for 3 hours to release all the tannins and then soaked them overnight. I didn't want them too dark as I will be making oak gall ink for the symbols.

My daughter found 3 snail shells while exploring today during a quiet moment in nature after the hustle of the group had all left.

We talked for a moment about patterns in nature and spirals. Then she went off to dig for more worms.

It definitely brought a moment of reflection for me sitting high atop a hill looking out over the forest, gentle breeze blowing. You don't find a lot of calm, still moments (or at least I don't!) When you are usually chasing 2 toddlers.

But it's amazing how easily they almost fall into the shape of the triskelion. An image that has enamored me since childhood. There's so much this image brings up for me but I will let it speak for itself.

Saturn's day. What a great day for getting things done, setting boundaries and doing those protection spells. Some people avoid structure but I've come to embrace it and find it really gives me more freedom in the long run.

I hope you enjoyed following along with me this week and found some inspiration in how to work with the different days.
