Our team is expanding!! Katie is joining our Linden Tree family as a birth assistant and we couldn't be more excited!

Katie is a seasoned labor and delivery nurse with more than a decade of experience, having worked in both the Wi******er area and northern Virginia. She’s a natural at handling the unexpected—being a mom of three and working the night shift has taught her that sometimes you just have to roll with the punches. She’s really passionate about natural childbirth and finding that sweet spot between safe, low-intervention care.

Kim, Jess and Liz were so excited to run into Zan Ruby and Deb Pizzola on Thursday night. For anyone that doesn't know who Zan is, she has been a midwife in the Shenandoah Valley for many decades. Deb Pizzola is a talented Birth Assistant and friend.

We are so thankful for the matriarchs of midwifery. Zan has influenced us in so many ways it is hard to count. She has cared for us personally and influenced our birth practices.

Kim and Jess have definitely been heard saying they aspire to be Zan & Juiliana when they grow up. Her love of midwifery and families shines through every time you have the privilege of talking to her. And we also got to listen in as a mother she helped 40 years ago thanked her for her loving care at the birth of her son.

You never forget the people who were there for you on that special day. Whether it was 2 weeks ago or 40 years!

We love you Zan!! Thankyou for being you!! And for everything you have done for the Midwifery community, and the community of families you have served!

We absolutely love love love our Linden Tree Midwifery families. Here is a testimonial in this mommas own words. She is an absolute rockstar and she was amazing at her very fast birth center birth!

"Baby girl has been with us about 4 days now & I’ve had a few days to reflect on how the labor & delivery went. 💗

I was able to labor at home all day, started in the morning, I wasn’t even sure if it was true labor yet until around 11am when I asked Aaron to come home from work & informed the midwife.

Around 430pm I decided it was time to head to the birth center. I didn’t realize how far along in labor I was and ended up going through transition in the car on the ride over. 😮‍💨 0/10 stars, def do NOT recommend. 🫣🤣

We got to Linden Tree Midwifery, LLC at 5pm, checked baby’s heart at 514pm & got in the birth tub right after. Baby was born at 522pm. Felt like a whirlwind, & I’m honestly still trying to process it.

I can honestly say, This pregnancy and birth process was the smoothest out of all 3 of my kids.

Not once did I feel pressured to do anything. Even after going over my due date.

I was always made to feel like my body was capable of birth & I had all the tools I needed.

When the time came, I felt guided, supported & truly cared for.

I would 1000000% recommend using them for birthing babies.

I’m so proud of me for laboring & delivering a baby with no medications. It was something I truly wanted this time & I was able to accomplish that goal with the support of an amazing birth brigade." 🥹🙏🏼

We get the question all the time..." why would someone want to have a baby outside of the hospital?"

Here at Linden Tree Midwifery, we can think of countless reasons why someone would want to. But we thought it would be more convincing straight from you guys. The families who have experienced it.

Yesterday, we were privileged to attend an amazing birth!! Not only did this momma absolutely rock out her VBAC, otherwise known as a vaginal birth after cesarean, but she pushed out a delightfully adorable 10 pound 10 Oz baby!!

She also pushed out the biggest placenta any of us have ever seen. It was so big we just had to weigh it. And it weighed in at just under 2 pounds.

Amazing things happen when you trust birth and trust the power and wisdom of a mother's body!

We want to give a sincere thankyou to all the families that joined us in marching at the Strasburg Mayfest Parade!!

From the mommas, dads and babies who marched, to the families holding up their babies along the parade route, our cup is so full!!

Events like these show the public that it is our neighbors who are having safe and satisfying births with midwives at home or in birth centers. It normalizes this kind of care so that other families can find out the joy of out of hospital birth with midwives.

It really does take a village, and we are so happy that you are part of our village!
