❤️ OUR PATIENTS NEED YOUR HELP ❤️

We are hosting a Pop-Up Platelet Drive right here at the hospital, and we are opening our doors to our amazing community!

Did you know that platelets have a very short shelf life? Because they only last a few days, a steady supply is absolutely critical for local cancer patients, trauma survivors, and newborns in our care.

If you are able to give, please consider stopping by. Your donation stays right here in our town to save a neighbor's life.

📅 Date: Friday, September 11th
⏰ Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Location: Classroom A

📣 Staff Shout Out: ER Nurse Brittani 📣

Maternal emergencies can develop quickly, and the consequences can be devastating. With maternal mortality remaining a significant concern in Arkansas and across the United States, providing excellent care means preparing our teams for the rare, high-risk situations where rapid recognition and intervention can save lives.

We are incredibly proud of Brittani for attending ARPQC’s Obstetric Emergency simulation and strengthening the skills needed to recognize and respond to life-threatening complications such as maternal hemorrhage, hypertensive emergencies, eclampsia, and other obstetric crises.

Thank you, Brittani, for choosing to learn, prepare, and lead by example. 💙

When it comes to stroke, every second on the clock counts!

Football season is here, and while we’re all ready for kickoffs, Friday night lights, and cheering on our favorite teams, there’s one play everyone should know:

BE FAST.

-Balance — Sudden loss of balance or coordination
-Eyes — Sudden trouble seeing
-Face — One side drooping or numb
-Arms — Weakness or numbness in one arm
-Speech — Slurred, strange, or difficult speech
-Time — Call 911 immediately

When stroke is the opponent, time matters. Recognizing the signs and getting emergency care quickly can change the outcome.

So this football season, add one more play to the playbook:

Know the signs. BE FAST. Call 911.

Because the best defense against stroke starts with knowing when it’s time to make the call. Go Birds!!

🚨 SPOT THE DOT: Your Quick Guide to Tick Bites 🚨

Warmer weather means spending more time outdoors—but it also means sharing the woods and tall grass with ticks. Do you know what to do if you find one on yourself or your child?

Keep these three steps in mind to stay safe this season:

1. REMOVE IT RIGHT AWAY 🛑

- Use tweezers: Grab the tick with fine-tipped tweezers as close to the skin's surface as possible.

- Pull straight up: Pull upward with steady, even pressure. Do not twist or jerk it.

- Clean up: Wash the bite area and your hands thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or soap and water.

- What NOT to do: Avoid old folklore remedies like using nail polish, petroleum jelly, or a hot match. You want to remove the tick quickly, not wait for it to detach.

2. MONITOR FOR SYMPTOMS 👁️

- Keep a close eye on the bite area over the next 30 days. Contact a healthcare provider if you develop:

- A fever or chills

- Aches, pains, or severe fatigue

- A rash (especially a expanding "bullseye" pattern, though rashes can take many shapes)

3. PREVENT FUTURE BITES 🌲

- Dress smart: Wear long-sleeved shirts and tuck your pants into your socks when hiking.

- Spray up: Use an EPA-registered insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin, or IR3535.

- Check thoroughly: Do a full-body tick check on yourself, your kids, and your pets after being outdoors.

- Pay close attention to under the arms, in and around the ears, inside the belly button, behind the knees, and in the hair.

When to seek medical care:
If you experience any of the symptoms above, or if you cannot completely remove the tick's head, visit our Urgent Care or your primary care doctor right away. Early treatment with antibiotics is highly effective for tick-borne illnesses like Lyme disease.
