An old witch once told me: if your house feels heavy, don’t dare cleanse the whole of it first.
Start where the trouble walks in.
So... yes.
The front door is not just a door. It's a border. A mouth. A yes-or-no place. In old household folk magic, thresholds matter because everything crosses them: guests, gossip, grief, luck, arguments, muddy shoes, and all the little bits of the outside world that cling to us.
So before you smoke the whole house, scrub the whole floor, or decide the spirits are being dramatic again… tend the door.
Sweep from the inside edge outward. Wipe the doorframe and k**b with clean water and a pinch of salt or rosemary. As you work, say:
“Only what is welcome may enter.
What is heavy leaves with the dirt.”
Then leave one small worker near the door.
Rosemary to protect.
Salt to mark the boundary.
Iron to ground.
A key to open only the right roads.
Some will think that’s decoration.
You and I know better.
A magickal worker has a job to do.
