🚧 Construction Update #4: The Final Touches!

We’re getting so close! 👀

Furniture is going in, the gym scoreboard is up, and the auditorium is filling up with tables and chairs. Classrooms are taking shape as furniture and supplies are being arranged and those last boxes are being unpacked.

At this point, it’s the little details that are making a big difference. Rooms are coming together, spaces are getting ready, and we’re putting the final touches on a facility designed to create new opportunities for the people we serve.

And there’s more to look forward to! Our open house is planned for early November (date coming soon). We can’t wait to show you around. 💙

It was another busy week of getting out and about! We spent time at a baseball field, visited a local history spot, grabbed some Elleson's Bakery donuts, volunteered, and found plenty of other ways to enjoy the week.

🥳 Yesterday, we celebrated Trisha Alexander and 15 years (September 1, 2011) of being part of the Opportunity House team! Please join us in congratulating her on this incredible milestone.

Trisha started her Opportunity House career as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) before becoming a House Manager. She later moved into Finance, where she learned payroll, spent three years in Human Resources, and eventually returned to Finance. Along the way, she has gained extensive experience in operations and been part of many of the projects, changes, and growth that have shaped Opportunity House over the years.

Trisha shared: “I love the clients. Even now that I’m in Finance, I still get the chance to interact with them, which is something I really enjoy. I’ve also really enjoyed being part of all the growth and changes at Opportunity House over the years. I’ve been involved in a lot of different projects, and there’s always been a lot of variety in my work. I really enjoy what I do and being part of everything happening here.”

Congratulations on 15 years, Trisha! We’re so glad you’re part of OH! 💚

It's been a busy week of getting out and exploring! We visited the history museum, spent time at local parks, took a walk downtown, checked out the train park, and even hit the bowling lanes. 🎳

Getting out and about gives us opportunities to explore new places, make choices about how we spend our time, and be active in the community.

📚 Friday Recap: Learning & Doing!

This week brought plenty of chances to learn, practice, and try something new. We worked on safety skills, vocational training, sewing, and music production, where we got to experiment with creating and mixing music. 🎶

And because apparently that wasn't enough learning for one week, we even discovered how to make invisible ink! 🕵️‍♀️✍️
